You're right, Azur, it is a bit of a ramble, but that was my frame of mind at the time.  Thanks for taking the time to read it.

This required a small investment of time to read
but was worth it. I think it is surprising  how we find strength when the worst things happen.

Ariala
Thank you Ariala.  I know the feeling.  I try to be positive all the time but when I let my imagination loose, it frightens the heck out of me.

John, good writing...I try to think the best of all things, but sometimes
there's that nagging feeling over something or other that gets me!

Thank you .Dave.   I tend to turn a blind eye to it myself.

Great writing, John. I try not to think too much about medical stuff.

Let met think - The eye doctor was halfway thru an op on a patient's eye, when his hand slipped, the eyeball came shooting out, bounced off the ceiling and came straight back down into the doctor's open mouth.  He tried to scream, but swallowed the eye instead, dropped dead and fell forward, catting the throat of the patient?   NO?

I have a T"he doctor died" story that will curl your toes.

TAPS
Now I'm worried, TAPS.   To think that somebody uses my life as a gauge sends shivers up my spine (something else that will be coming your way with age?)  Ell's first eye doctor died immediately after doing her left eye; she had to wait another year until a new surgeon was found to do her right eye.   I hope mine doesn't pop his clogs before he does my eye.  The op is only a 20 minute one and you don't even get put under, apparently.   It won't be long before it's drive-thru surgery.

It could have been, majroj, but to be quite honest it is all a blank.

I sure wish I wasn't older than you.  I kind of use you and your writings for a gage.  If it has happened to you and not yet to me, I know it can't be long in coming.   I need to make an appointment with the eye doctor (an eye doctor).  Its been so long since I did that, that mine has retired.   He may be dead for all I know.

White lab coat, comb the hair, and everyone's a PhD!

Pat.

Sorry about that Pat, but remember that I do tend to 'embellish.'   The waiting room was empty because two hospitals are being squeezed into one, and the one we were at was the one that is being moved.   Most patient records and patients have been moved.

LOL.  I am all sympathy and rosebuds for you after the whacking rake.  You might be able to sue!  oops have to go, here comes the lightning.

I was all sympathy and rosebuds until I got to the fluorescent urine...

And now I'm feeling so much better.  I must admit the empty waiting room lead-in had me looking for some really grim result, with the doctor as a villain or a quack or something. If they can fix that little problem in two minutes with a laser, it will be ok...

As for an answer to the question about what folks who fear the worst do when the worst actually happens:  it's been my experience as a certified worry-wart that the "worst" you're looking for hardly ever happens. Instead, something you'd never think about in a million years catches you by surprise, like stepping on the tines of a rake in tall grass and it flips up and whacks you in the back of the head.

LOL.  God No!  I was so freaked out the first time that I sat down the next two times.  There are some advantages to being a woman - er - so they tell me.

I THOUGHT that might happen!
Sorry about that. Wish you had a black light in the lav?

I wish you'd told me sooner, majroj.  I deleted the part about me peeing fluorescent green pi.....er....urine and freaking out.

Enjoying your account as usual.
Fluorescine dye...we occasionally used it to detect irregularities (read that "gashes, gouges, and pits")as eyedrops. We sometimes forgot to tell people they would blow fluroescent boogers afterwards!
