sign of a person who wishes they were a writer, but unfortunately are not

A writer's words are her/his "children." Plagiarism is child stealing.
You'd think it would be more fun to make their own.

Pardom me. I meant ' a plagiarist steals irreplaceable ...'

Julia

Plagiarism is worse than a burglary. A burglar steals replaceable things most often created by some else; a plagiarism steals irreplaceable words and phrases peculiar to ones soul. I have no respect for such despicable cretins.

not dumb just incredibly lazy
it's not so much that they're mental it's that they are really lazy and it is sooooooo much easier to copy someone else's works and make it your own then to actually work. God forbid.

One time a blogger here on blogit took one of my posts and re-posted it
in their own blog with only a few changes here and there.   Being plagiarized is sort of like being violated and yes, people who do such things lack truly lack a respect for the beauty and originality of words.   Good post, Julia, my dear!

Theft is theft, no matter what it is they are stealing

A real writer no matter whether good or not would never plagiarize. They want to be read for their own work too much. It is really bad in the fashion world. You get ripped off going and coming. There are companies who produce their lines simply by hiring designers who don't have a line or a job to 'knock off' other peoples work. It is disgusting. To steal some one's originality in any way it not a good thing.

Stealing is wrong. Period!

Well I'm kind of torn. If someone plagiarized me, at least then I'd know that something I wrote was worth a shit!!

to answer both of your questions at once: I haven't got the foggiest idea how!

If I ever caught anyone doing that with a writing sample of mine, there would be some serious hell to pay. And I do mean serious!!

writers "get it" but the general population typically does not (and that even includes many bloggers, in my opinion).

Julia, how can anyone live with themselves after doing such a thing?
Your own words are something to be proud of...how can you be proud of somebody else's words?

Whenever we apply for opportunities and send in samples, they use them liberally. Especially in print where no one can detect most of the time.

Some people have bigger balls than others, Julia.  Yes, plagarism is wrong, and if anyone ever did such a thing to me, there would be several unladylike words flying.

Julia....I agree completely....your post is so true.
No one can understand the love affair a writer has with words....when words are your passion  for them to be taken from you is criminal.  Thank you for sharing.

Re: Julia, this is what I think...
How can someone get away with it??  Easy.  Join Blogit and be popular.  Confess and apologize only AFTER you've been caught.  It's just that simple.

Factor--
Not to make you even more paranoid (LOL) but that scenario has probably happened a lot--but only with a sentence (or two at most). It would be pretty hard to imagine that two like minds could dream up the same poem, blog post, article or whatever. So rest easy!

Great post Julia!
A true writer is a creator and their work is in expressing who they are from the inside out.

I like the quote too
It has always been my fear that somehow I would accidentally choose really close to someone else's.  Guess that makes me paranoid or insecure...

Julia, I understood that feeling entirely, but I'm guessing most non-writers would never "get" it. That's what I think. Hope you agree.

Julia, this is what I think...
How could anyone of sound mind think they could actually get away with something like this? You see, I think it's your "baby" and there is nothing else like it anywhere in the world…except when someone steals it and calls it their own. That's my opinion anyway. Hope you agree.
