- have you written about the 'leap of faith' or do you plan to? I'd be interested to read it...
I'm sure there is a wealth of experience out there for all us ex-pats to write about.

Keep fighting. You're too good a writer to let anyone judge you or discourage you. Only this morning my partner told me that I'm always writing, that it's all I do. (research is like that..)Well, all he does is his career. Somewhere along the way he left me on my own so much that I built a life of my own, which he still wants to dictate. It's an uphill battle, but I keep fighting it.

John Macnab, thank you so much. I will fight
Every step. I am.

Five years ago I took a 4,000 mile, and 30 year, leap of faith and foolishness.   As we sit here we often shake our heads in disbelief at what used to be, and sheer wonder at what is.   Good luck, Azur.  Grasp it tightly with both hands and if someone tries to wrest it from you, fight them for it.

I try not to judge because I know people are harsh enough on themselves.
I believe just listening helps many times... but sometimes we want to help and it can seem like we are judging instead.

You are lucky to
have a friend that understands.  I think some of my friendships have been ruined because I come across as judgmental, but really, I'm not.  I just don't always reciprocate in the conversation by sharing some of the mistakes that I've made.  Anyway, I'm glad things are going well and I hope they stay that way

Azur, it isn't the judging that really hurts..wel, that's not true...
What really hurts is when you "screwed the pooch" for real, whether anyone else knows or thinks so, or not.

Yep, that kind of doctoring comes from surprising sources sometimes, as well as the trusted ones of course.

Good to see you popping in.

No judgments.

My question is why worry about being judged?
Unless they're buying your breakfast and putting a roof over your head, it's totally none of their business whatsoever, and sometimes it's none of their beeswax even if they are. I love the way your doc/friend thinks!

I sometimes think a good doctor is a bit like a sponge, soaking up other people's worries yet still having the capacity to find the right words to soothe ... I only hope they can squeeze out the excess at the end of the day themselves. Not everything can be solved with a prescription. I'm glad your efforts are paying off.

Okay. For, like, the past hour, I've been trying to think of something profound (or at least coherent) to add.

However, seeing as it is now nearly 2 in the morning, I think we can safely assume that is not going to happen.

So, anyways ...

great post.
