Re: this is so true damon, once someone we know or a family member

callista oh yes, and when we all get together at the family reunions we sure have a lot of memories recalled then.  With so many brothers and sisters as well as cousins there are even more memories to recall together.

this is so true damon, once someone we know or a family member
passes, we lose more than we realize.  so many of my childhood memories i cant recall, but my sister does, when she passes, so will a large part of me.

Damond

I'm sorry to hear that. Well, sometimes, some people just come into our lives for a season for a reason. Some may stay for the whole season and some will just leave us after a season. Somehow, they'll leave some good or bad memories. Good memories make us cherish our moments forever and bad memories will always give us some lessons, which makes us learn from our past mistakes.

This is a very good post! I love to read your posts.

Cheers

Damond.............

You cannot replace friends.  You just acquire new ones.

This is a great post you've written, a lot of food for thought.

Re: These missing links though, are what our memories are made of.......

mariaki, thank you for your wonderful comment.  If anyone remembers me like I do some of the people that have already left my life, I should be a happy man.

Thanks once again.

Re: Wistful stuff, Damon.

Thanks so much Dave.  I think that this type pondering gets to us all.  That probably is why we don't do more of it than we do.  I think that none of really like to think about leaving this life behind.

Wistful stuff, Damon. I have less grey stone to ponder upon, but it gets me when I do.

Re:

siyara75, thanks so much.  Roses mean a lot to me when people leave them for me; they are a great inspiration.

Re: Damond

Thanks so much Sally for your kind comments on my posts.  You did get the post exactly.  The older we get the more those people that have gone on mean to us.  I have noticed this over the years.

Thanks again.

Yes there are so many missing links in all our lives. Like yours many of mine have found their final resting place. I know that sometimes I have a hard time remembering what they looked like, the freckle on my departed friends face...the scar on my Daddy's forhead. I don't see them as vividly as I was did. This was an excellent post Damond...

jacenta Thanks so much for your wonderful comments.  No it doesn't surprise me at all that it would be your favorite quote.  It is one of my favorites too.

Thanks again!

Damond.  I like to read your writings.  Your post is so honest and real.  I too, like you, have loved so many and they are no longer in my life.  I have no choice but accept it, but I don't have to like it.  Death is a part of life, as are changes.  They are both inevitable.  I've already told you how I miss my own precious father. He still lives through me and he will always be in my heart.   I only wish those that love me, would never have to grieve over their loss of me, someday.  The more we care and love, the more we open ourselves up to hurt.  But, to me, caring and loving is what life is about and I am thankful for all the cherished moments of my lifetime.  I spend each day showing how much I care for those around me.  I think that is very important.  I hope you find much happiness in this sometimes, cruel world.  Life goes on and we must just keep on, keeping on.  This is my philosophy, my friend.  Make the most of every day.  My favorite quote is, "Today is the first day of the rest of our lives."  Does that surprise you at all?  Take care and be happy.

Re: Damond

Yes Troosha it does indeed leave a hole, but I am happily replacing them with new people that I meet.

I too am sorry, but I am happily replacing them with new ones that I meet.  Still the old ones do leave holes when they leave.

Thanks so much for commenting!

So very touching and I'm sorry you've lost so many people who were important in your life.  It leave a hole, doesn't it?  And yet it is also a reminder to cherish the people who still bring a smile into our lives.

Damond - Gee, I'm sorry you've already lost so many childhood
friends.  Momma is losing some of hers, too.  When I 'go' I want my ashes spread high atop the mountains in Puerto Rico.
