In our case it was the Regal.  There was one in our town, Ell's town and the market town (the big city to us).  Yep I remember the maltesers and things like Pathe Pictorial Newsreel; the Big picture and the Wee Picture.  Ah, happy days, mneme - no cellphones to irritate in those days.

We are of the generation that remembers Saturday mornings at the local Gaumont / Roxy / Empire or whatever they were called. A bit quieter back then.  Remember Maltesers? Great fun rolling them down the sloping aisles...

Isn't it strange, mneme how you can love a relation but still itch to clip them across the lugs.   The audio was almost a physical assault, and I know why we don't go there now.

but you love him, really (now do I mean HP or Grandson...?). I know just what you mean about being assaulted by audio.. when we went to see "Face-Off" a few years ago, and all the shooting started right at the beginning, I felt like I'd been shot.

My right ear is recovering, Whacky, but the left ear is taking longer.  Perhaps I could do with a spell from the boy wizard?

Grandson even told me his You-Tube password.

"Are you telling me because you trust me,"  I asked, all emotional?

"That, and the fact that you don't even know what You-Tube is Granddad."

Tee-hee, what Grandson doesn't know won't hurt him.

That sounds really cool.  I think I'll start looking for a drive-in just to experience it.  That, and Sears-Roebuck, and aircraft carrier sized convertibles was always how I imagined North America.   Sears is still here - I don't know what happened to Roebuck - and at weekends the convertibles drive past the front door on their way to classic car shows.

Way to bond! Harry Potter, confusion, deafness... shush!
Must be nice to have instilled such confidence and closeness in your grandson he feels safe in telling you how to be...  It's a milestone, isn't it?  I hope the ringing in your ears stops soon.  :)

I never read or seen any of the Potter series
I have had a look but just not my thing. BUT I used to go to the drive-in which was always fun. The screen for the one I used to go to as a teen is still standing. Now it is in the middle of a huge garden store. They flattened the ground so that you don't walk up and down
