Every time we catch a single one, any man abusing children I get on my bandwagon. Particular fathers. Sexual molestation is not acceptable. Little children can not be taken and used by those they respect. It is unacceptable totally unacceptable.

Justi, I read your previous post and understood what you were trying to say
Like dark mistress I too believe The Bible was written by man .  Yes, we are taught that it was divinly inspired by the Holy Spirit.  It was still written by man.  Even though it is the Word of the Lord.  My main objection came from reading the previous post.  I get annoyed when everyone gets on the bandwagon about the few priests who molest kids(while married fathers are doing the same ) when there are so many good ,genuine Catholic priests.  Imagine if we constantly painted all men as molesters because of a few rotten apples in the barrel.  Also, if the present Pope has made a stupid statement ,write about him.   By all means, hang, draw and quarter him.  He deserves it for this lapse in judgement .  I felt the same way when he had a go at the Muslims. Good, constructive Catholics get tired of  other Christians throwing old history at us and questioning things like celibacy, baby baptisms, pictures and statures and honouring the Mother Of God. etc  As you said people must worship as they want and be respected for it. In every home people have an evening meal.  Some help themselves as their comittments allow, others eat on the run, others watch tv while eating, others sit around the table.  We may not agree with how other people do things but  at the end we are all getting our evening nourishment.  And should agree to disagree.

Dark Mistress
Thank you for your thoughts. They are yours and you have every right to them. This piece is not about whether Catholics are living right or not. It is about whether their rulers, who are certainly not living right, have the right to lay the blame on all Christians and deem us Protestants not Christians. The Catholic papacy has no right to do many of the things they do to the rest of us people in the world. I am as sure that the Bible is the Word of God as you are that it isn't. But that is totally between you and God not me and you. I am glad you had a good experience in church, did you just leave it for no reason?

Thank you so much. If the Bible is not the word of God we are all in a heap of trouble.

Your voice is not different that the one I was attempting to make in the first of this. Perhaps you did not read that. I have no knowledge of who is and who is not a Catholic Christian. I am not against any Catholic for their religion. I am doing what you are doing resisting words against my faith.

The Catholic Pope brought judgment on all the Protestant churches declaring them less than Christian. I do not like that statement. I did not find any of the Catholic body making those statements only the Papacy. It is wrong and I am tired of all Christians being blamed for what only the Catholics did.

I did not want to hurt any feelings as I have said nothing about the worshipers. The rullers of the Catholic church show their own faults.

You agree more than disagree. I hope you saw that in what I said, I don't know.

Good morning dear lady
I think you said it quite well here...and I honestly believe the Bible is indeed the word of God and it is to be accepted in it's literal text...I don't know how it could be spelled out any better...Many deny the role of Christians in this world because many interpret words to fit their ever changing lives...however at the end of the day we are given specific direction through the teachings of our Father and at the end of that same day it is he who will judge whether we learned anything...

Okay so I'm going to sound like a hypocrite...

I was raised a catholic, never had a problem withg the church, actually found numerous pieces of inspiration. I'm not cliaming to be a catholic now, but I do believe...I do my best to make sure that my words, actions and thoughts are of good, that everything I do in my life is the right thing. I however am not willing to sit down and take everything the bible says at face value. The bible is not God's word. It is god's words according to man and man has changed it time and time again over the centuries to suit himself. I respect people's belief so long as they aren't fanatical and ill doers. I know it's a little off track. But quite frankly, so long as you do good in this world you can't go wrong

Hi Justi, I havnt visited for some time so Ive missed some of the

controversy.  As a practicing catholic,I have to say Im proud to be a Catholic Christian. All religions, including Bible-based Christians, have hypocrisy, blood on their hands ,sexual illnesses etc.  It's not a catholic thing.  It's just that the Catholic church is highly visible, has the most followers and at present,a pope who cant keep his foot out of his mouth.  It's so much like America.  Reading all the poems on the 4th july, Americans are proud and strong patriots.  To a big part of the world, America is seen as a greedy ,bullying, misguided, powerful, corrupt country with its own serious internal problems and an uintelligent bullyboy at the head.  Sounds like the Catholic church, doesnt it?

Catholics are like any other family with its weaknesses and strengths ,its dogmas and its traditions.  What is wrong with that? Thanksgiving ,from my perspective is a tradition.  Although its not a part of my life or rituals I respect and admire it.  We cant dismiss or critisize Catholic traditions because it's something we dont practice. As for ex catholics, which ex ever has good things to say about an ex?  It's natural for those who have broken away from the church to have negative things to say about it.  A relationship with a religious group is like any other because it is made up of people.  And people are made up of weaknesses and strengths.  In fact according to the Bible Jesus came for the sick and the sinners.  So I believe Jesus is the Lord of us all,Catholics, Protestants,charismatics,evangelists,outreachers,Bible-based Christians etc. It's not how faithfully you read or know your Bible that makes you a christian.  Its how sincerely ,when no one is watching,in the privacy of your heart ,how much you love God and all of His creation. Its how each of us carry out Gods greatest commandment that we love Him with all our hearts, minds and souls and that we love our neighbour as we love ourselves.  Ive been involved with the most wonderful non catholic christians and Ive met the most bigoted,narrow-minded Bible -based christians who have a scripture and superiority for every occassion.  They are so self-righteous, Im sure they intimidate God himself.

Lastly, and I apologise for the length,if we lined up all the men who have corrupted the innocents you would find more sexually -active married fathers, stepfathers and brothers etc than celibate priests.  Sexual molestation is not caused by celebacy.  Neither is rape.  These are crimes commited by sick /evil/people despite the fact they are husbands, priests, evangelists etc. Catholic priests choose the vocation knowing they cant marry.  They choose to commit to their parish instead of to family life.  Like many married people they dont always remain true to their vows.  Like I said before.  God came for the sinner.
