There it is in a nutshell, word.smith. This all seems so counterproductive

Now this is where people get the idea that conspiracy theories exist...

Why in this century does the catholic church need to be headed by a relic?

Somehow that decision passed me by. Kinda smacks of arrogance to take it upon himself to make a decision like that - not to mention dumb.

That's the problem with any religion, Decshak. The more you dissect it,
the more of a mess it is.

I've actually been wondering, lately, of the wisdom of taking the masses
out of Latin.  You know what they say about sausage?  It's better if you don't see it being made....

Same thing it has always come to, Sunnybeach, chaos in need of
containment, organization, and explanation.

Oh, he set them back alright. Ridiculous in this day and age. Just
another example of an overextended anachronism...

saul, I think the pope set the RC Church back about 2 centuries
I thought this type of thinking was over, but I guess I thought wrong....

The Pope is a favorite anti-Christ candidate amongst the Protestants,
food4thought.  It gives them a real target to hate.  These decrees by Benedict only spurs them on.  They use them to "prove" his anti-Christhood.

It's all greek to me!!!
About a year ago I got a publication called "The National Sunday Law" or something like that.  Turns out it is put out by the Seventh Day Adventists, and according to that, they know who the antichrist is!  Turns out it is none other than the Pope and the Catholic church!  I just had to shake my agnostic head.

It's all pretty meaningless, gomedome, as you know. But to make a
requirement of a ceremony that conducts an act of faith that most do not understand is a bit ridiculous.  Maybe they'll offer translators this time around?

saul_relative - I'm old enough to remember sitting in church on Sundays

and muttering meaningless Latin gibberish for an hour.

What a completely ridiculous thing to attempt a return to.
