True, Straightforward. But he has a very good point here. He's not
advocating total disassociation, just proactive immersion.

Here's the thing: English is the intenational language of business (not
counting numbers and tickertape readings).  English is the international language of science.  English is spoken in two of the most dominant social systems on the planet (the United States and the United Kingdom).  All these things argue favorably for English as a second language.  However, if you come to a land where a language is spoken and wish to become successful, it is without a doubt that your path will be less obstacle-filled if you learn the language of your newly adopted country.

I would love to hear more people in our country speaking English.......
I can't understand my web coach (trying to start a business...supposed to have unlimited support )..........It's crazy !

I agree. I'm just throwing this up because people need to see that there
is a practicality to this bilingual issue, not just some ethnocentric language bashing...

Saul, what he meant was you have to turn of the tv and start learning. The academics in linguistics claim that listening to, talking about, watching and engaging in L1 (native language) develops the use of that language, which then can further the learning of L2.

The general problem remains that people spend all their study time watching tv. It's just taking over all our time.
