One of my favorites of all time, Wavy. I might be a little biased; he was
from my home state of West Virginia.

Actually, dark mistress, moving to Schenectady isn't so bad. It's
population is barely over 60,000 (est. 2003), making it well below that violent line in the FBI data. I can honestly say I have never met a New Yorker I didn't like. They get a bum rap (especially New York City folk).

I live in a rural town in Australia which is the safest place to be. My partner lives in Schenectady New York and wants both my daughter and myself to move there to live. Scares the hell out of me....

Vigilante justice, although an option, will just validate the inability of
the current legal system to provide the law-abiding with protection against the criminal element. And it will probably get worse, as you suggest, Aussie.

Unfortunately, I guess its a sign of the times... Especially given the fact that the US population is, realistically speaking, only going to increase.
I'm not sure what the stats are over here in Oz (I don't really keep track of it), but I do know we have about the same problem here. The police over here are so hamstrung in regards as to what you can do against law-breakers, becoming a vigilante seems some days the only logical answer - As illogical and wrong that that answer is.

Not the real problem, Wavy. Getting the bullet out of his pocket and
chambered was Barney's problem.

Apparently An Increasingly Violent One
Just as long as Barney Fife can get his gun out of his holster.
