Aha, you spotted it - I thought of it at work yesterday, and immediately
thought she'd make a great partner for Terry Bull, who I'd been meaning to introduce!

Thanks Mneme - it started out intended to be a comedy, strangely...
In searching for the next line, it turned into this!?!

Tony, domestic violence though sad, your sonnet is bloody enjoyable
. I'll have to sit through to read your missed sonnets.

Hello Rae - thanks! Yes, it's influenced by things I've heard about,
but no direct experience of it myself!

Hi Afzal - no, not at all. I started out intending to write a quick and
funny one, and it took me a long time and became serious!

Hee hee - okay Proc, it's nut light-hearted...

But, Troosha, it's ironic humour! Okay, it's not!

Hi Enigmatic - quite funny when you look back on it, all that Commie
stuff. Bring some of it back, i say, just for a bit of entertainment.

Tony

You're lucky (about your Marxist professor, that is!) Note: This was actually a year or two after the Soviet union, "changed" in the early '90's.

Mine was...not so nice...unless, of course, you kissed his "Red" ass! Discussing the Lenin-Brezhnev era - Student: (not me) "What about the food shortages?" Professor: "So there's a few problems, where isn't there?" Another student: (again, not me) "What about all the mass murders?" Professor: "Of  course, some counterrevolutionaries had to be killed - the rest is just plain capitalist, right-wing propaganda!" However, he didn't seem to think the "Holocaust" was just plain, left-wing propaganda!

Thanks, Senor Enigmatico! I'll go and have a look-o...

Tony
If that was "light-hearted", I'm scared to read one of your more "intense" poems!  By the way, I replied to your interestiog comments on Morrison/abortion, in my "1968" blog, if you're interested.
