Re: So they take nocturnal strolls on our faces...
Pat, the picture I have seen shows they have what appear to be two 'eye-like' patches that probably contain photo-sensitive cells...

So they take nocturnal strolls on our faces...
The picture didn't show eyes -- how do they know whether it's night or day?

It's true about the snakes eating the rats, but I've see "Nature" programs, that have shown snakes that are literally big enough to digest humans...slowly...oh, so...slowly!!!

I'm glad to hear it! I'm not sure, though, that a
Demodex infection is necessarily associated with blepharitic symptoms...

I wouldn't say that! I mean the snakes could eat the rats, and then I'd be left with nice, clean pets, and not these little buggers that, on top of everything else, have the bloody cheek to go for midnight strolls on my face...

Wrong! You have to employ my strategy! I've been rubbing my eyes all day long, and shall keep doing it. You see, that way I am disturbing all the f... I mean mating that goes on there, and well, we know from experience, no mating, no offspring, right?
And hey, if, in the meantime, they want to use teeny tiny protection, that's okay by me as well. I'll even go to the drugstore and get it for them! I mean, the aim here is contraception, by force or persuasion...

Naut....you started this thing....I will never be able to rub my twitching eyes again for fear of causing....."bugus interuptus "...so to speak!
Many things will come to mind when I feel a twitch coming on.......Are they using teeny tiny protection? What if the little creatures have parasitic herpes? If my eyes start burning is it because they are smoking after their encounters?
You have me living in fear of my next twitch!!!

LOL! We can always rely on you to do good research! The females are shorter and rounder? Sounds familiar, LOL. I think I'll stay away from the rest of your comment, and I never go anywhere near follicle openings...

Female Demodex folliculorum are somewhat shorter and rounder
than males. The total lifespan of a Demodex mite is several weeks. Both
male and female Demodex mites have a genital opening, and fertilization
is internal.[2] Mating takes place in the follicle opening, and eggs are laid inside the hair follicles or sebaceous glands.
Hmmmm???? And all this time when my eye starts twitching.....I thought it was a nerve! And it was these buggers doin' it?????
