We used to sneak into the fields of wheat.  It was an exhilarating experience as you disappeared from the world.

You are never to old to wander through very tall grass - reminds me of childhood ramblings (I was shorter then too).

jacenta
It came in two days ago, jacenta.  I fitted it to the mower and it still doesn't work.  Looks like I'll have to find a real mechanic, or disappear into the elephant grass.

Hopefully the part needed will come in soon.

It also sounds like a good excuse for not cutting the grass, Pat.  I will file it away for future reference.

Azur
Can I assume that you simply let it grow, Azur?

The good news is, the long grass is good for the environment...
Longer grass, more chlorophyll and more release of whatever chemicals those are that are good for us to breathe -- oxygen?  I know what they are, forgive the senior moment, but can't pull the name out of the air - carbon something, dioxide maybe...  Anyway, with more grass there's more to produce the good green stuff, so by not cutting it you're making it stronger, feeding the roots, and making it healthier...  all justifications I learned years ago when I was working, mothering and just didn't have time to keep it trimmed... :)

Assume very long grass here even when we don't need a part for the mower.

TAPS
I just looked up the grass whip online, TAPS.  No, I've never seen one of those before.  It must be an American thing.  It looks quite painful.

TAPS
The goats and sheep I remember, TAPS, but I've never heard of a grass whip.  We used to use a scythe.  The rhythm of scything took a long time to master, but once you had it, you could do it until your back broke in two.  I'm learning some fascinating things today.  Nah! No such thing as living too long as long as you are compos mentis.

So far, all I have to do is tread carefully as I search for Samantha's calling cards, but if it doesn't hurry up, Samantha may get lost.

With any luck, afzal, it may go down in posterity.

Remember the grass whip?   It used to be one of those or a goat.  I think maybe I've lived too long.  LOL
