- Go to Bush and the Republicans are blocking everything
One thing more . . .
You asked quite sagely, "Now an opposition party is always there to oppose certain measures, but why oppose every measure that ever comes for a vote?"
A very astute question indeed - it is the Democrats who oppose everything that President Bush wants to do. The President, on the other hand, has been reservedly conciliatory towards the Democrats on everything except Iraq and national security.

Bush is devastating the country . . .
- Stock market continues to set record highs.
- Unemployment stays below 5%.
- Record tax revenues.
- Federal deficit reduction far ahead of schedule.
- One of the few people in government with a backbone when it comes to national security and defense.
This is devastating? Looks to me like what is being devastated is the incessant negativity of the liberals. You know as well as I do that if any of these conditions existed with a Democrat in the White House, s/he would be praised to the high heavens as a hero and great leader.

The moral leadership of Bush is this: Stay in Iraq until the job is finished.

I'm beginning to believe that there are only a handful of our
Congresspeople, zoke, that actually know what they're doing (other than fleecing and lining they pockets, that is) or are even bothering to try to do something. It's all about posturing for effect and spinning it favorably. There is no credibility or integrity, no honor or statesmanship. Most of them need to be sent packing. I say we start with Cheney (titular head of the Senate) and work our way down...

zoke,
Better bone up on your civics. I can't believe the Times wrote that. If the President does not sign a bill, other than during a recess, doesn't it become law in 10 days.

zoke
Min. wage went up to over 7 dollars per hr a couple months ago in my neck of the woods. Take the pork out of the bill and it would probably be signed. The Dems said they would cut fuel cost in the first 100 hours of office...I am still waiting for that.
It all makes me wonder about any of them!
