I'm at part one here and haven't read the comments as I'd like to read the work as a whole and not be influenced by anything I written there.  My first question is about your being an agnostic.  Where you always?  And I'm curious to know what it is about these texts that led to your desire to read and explore them?  --Joy!Mary

thanks for the compliments! I won't delete these posts! And another thing, ma'am: you don't even have to call me 'sir'...

Nautikos,
Okay, I read this series from the last post backwards and here I am at the beginning.  First of all, you are a very good writer, very concise and easy to understand.  I'm not an intellect, but a spiritisdom (having derived from spiritual wisdom).  I am not book educated, although not stupid, I am not colleged although I own a bookkeeping service.  I've learned everything through the school of hard knocks, blood, sweat & tears.  I appeciate the fact that although you are an intellect, you are able to keep your writing easy for us less educated to understand and comprehend.  I enjoyed this series and will be rereading it over several times, if you will not delete these posts, please sir.  Also because I read the posts backwards, I began feeling your fatigue.  I did not read a lot of comments but enough to know, with this series you carried an extremely heavy load. I appreciate your effort.  A undertaking done extremely well. You are an attribute to this virtual community.

Since I consider the opening statement quite bold and honestly said, please be encouraged from me to write freely just as it appears correct to you. I shall follow every word that you henceforth write on the subject.

Wiley,
man, that was a comment-and-a-half! I guess you really had some bad experiences there! My own experience has always been rather 'neutral'...

Nautikos

LOL So hoss, yur headed down below eh? Well at -30 today, it's kind of invitin' to me so I'll read ya.

Actually I've always had great respect for the Bible, but at times in my life Catholicism turned it into a book to be feared and NOT read.

Where I came from, it was forbidden reading for a child anyway, by the Catholic church of Quebec.

Strangely, when I had to sober up, neither religion nor the Bible got me on the straight and narrow, but my own spiritual experience was simply 'given' to my mind by 'God'  or 'Jesus' if you will.

Probably because those names and thoughts had been pounded into my head~literally~ by the Presentation Brother's of Ireland or the Christian brothers of Montreal. Sure now, the fear doth still linger about me like a ghost from hell.

Of course when I went out into the world and was in the military, I gave up all practice of religion, and hung out with an atheist named Raby, he had such a freedom of mind that I enjoyed deliciously.

As a married man, back home again and surrounded in the bosom of family life, a sister a nun, at least 8 priests in the family, I got all caught up with not just the mental torture of alcoholism, but the far worse torture of Canon Law,Humanae Vitae and child making.

Unbeknown to me, I had married the first feminist female terrorist, the babies stopped at 5 because it was 'her' body and not mine or the Catholic religion, and that marriage ended after 20 years.

So then, I have both feet firmly planted in man's hell, but Jesus of my understanding lives in my heart on a daily basis.

I shall read all you have to write on the subject with great interest, especially the comments~lol, but 'Not one drop of water will I lower down to you' as Brother Whoever would say.LOL

Yeah, I know, right now your saying, 'I didn't really need to know all that'.

Well perhaps not, but thanks for letting me share my piece of hell with you old friend.

I was raised Baptist and have been around Muslims the last 4 years of my life. I too have a copy of the Koran and have started to read it to be informed and have intelligent conversations about the Muslim religion and to see for myself the differences between the Christianity and of the Muslim faith.
