I think writers have to be outside of cliques - observing them analytically.

Just take what you can from it. I've always been outside of cliques
They are limiting

You are probably right, 1TimeSoldier.  What was getting my knickers in a twist was the fact that I was not part of any of the cliques.

and it is wonderful

ginnie
You come out with the most unbelievable comments, ginnie, like 'it's the first rain I've seen in Scotland.'   February is the dreichest, most bone chilling time of the year - at least in the central belt where I lived.   Perhaps the country cheered up because I left it.

Yours does sound promising, Mac...
...if you're networking and gaining info then that's sure more than procrastinating!    Hey..it's raining in Scotland today!  Something I've rarely seen here...honestly!!

ginnieb

The speaker was quite good, ginnie. The next speaker is going to be his partner who has just had a book published.  It is advertised locally and has had good reviews in the Ottawa Citizen.  Strangely enough, when I was looking around the group I did think 'what a lot of old f....    er     fools.

I'm not kidding myself, ginnie, the only reason I went was to procrastinate and perhaps to network - which is the only reason I'm going back.

That's a shame, Mac...
..sounds like an unfriendly bunch. I tried a writer's group a few years back and blogged about it. I think the average age was 78 and very few had ever been published. When I mentioned blogging I was looked at like 'who's that fresh young city chick!' That part I kind of liked. ;) I, like you, wasnt' going to return but I did...two more times until I realized there was no way to blow the dust off them without wasting too much breath. I was really disappointed. At least you had a speaker! Good luck if you do return...and we'll stay posted to hear!
