Presley--
and I have seen it go the opposite way, the victim and/or family members spewing hatred and wanting an eye for an eye. Now...which attitude do you suppose is more harmful to them and which does their spirit the most good? It seems so obvious and yet, I do understand that true forgiveness for heinous actions is incredibly difficult.

avant--
I think it is hard for most humans (and next to impossible for some) to look beyond what seems "obvious and in our faces"

Julia

I hope I don't receive a lashing from others for saying this, but I'm going to say it anyway.  I've watched several shows on MSNBC where victims of heinous crimes (or surviving members of the victim's family) confront the perpetrator.  In most cases, it is clearly evident that the perpetrator is remorseful.  The perpetrator has seen the error of his ways and fully regrets his former actions and/or lifestyle.

In most of these cases, the victim or family members forgive the perpetrator.  Many even end the confrontation by embracing each other and offer each other opportunities for future communication with one another.

It humbles me to see this happen.  I'm not sure how I would react toward a perpetrator if someone I loved was harmed/murdered by his hand.  I would hope I could find forgiveness in my heart - hate the sin, but not the sinner.  We ARE all cut from the same cloth.  I agree with you that it is only our perception that makes us different.

It is hard to conceive of such a thing, unless a new perspective is taken. I see most of the time that things exist for a wider purpose than for what our limited judgments make them out to be.

You're discussing karma here:

Perceptions
Yes, I liked your last comment about perceptions. When looking through one's own eyes on the physical plane, being linked to a sinner would seem most distressing; too close to one's self. Seen through the eyes of the universe, however, on a higher level, it's merely part of the whole, the larger pattern.
