The problem with mirrors in space...
if they break, we'll have so much bad luck :)   But seriously, it seems to me to be an insurmountable engineering, manufacturing and installation challenge.  IF it could be done, why not put up solar collectors and channel the energy into electric distribution systems to run air conditioners, etc...

An even more far-fetched science fiction solution
Aliens arrive in droves to help us celebrate Arbor Day in a big way so that our excess carbon dioxide is converted into  oxygen and, eventually, wide plank flooring.
