so you love using radicals to paint all opposition with the same brush
and you believe supporting the troops is to send more of them to die and be maimed.

for the war with the least valid reason of any.

Glennb...... you sure do like that term "You People"...
unless it's used at you instead of by "you people".......Excuse me if I have a misconception....but it seems to me that the term  soldier has men someone trained to  KILL????  Since the first ones started training thousands of years ago....

Do you really hear how silly you sound when you talk in this fashion.......

Parnell,
The "real" fact of Bush's invasion of Iraq will never be known if we do not act to force him out of his cover: "troops in harms way"! Hey ass you put them in "harms way"! He had them lined up to invade Iraq long before the UN debate had ended!

Corbin_Dallas,
You people are far more subtle in your disdain for the troops fighting Bush's "war on terror" in Iraq! You people put them in harms way and then proclaim they volunteered so they have no voice or choice about the orders they are given! And you are so far from right! No soldier can be forced to obey an unlawful order! Murdering civilians is a crime against humanity no matter the title they are given!

I read about these outrageous signs back in 2003
Extremism is present in any belief system, unfortunately. It is a reality that opposing the war+supporting the troops can and does exist in the minds, actions and efforts of many citizens, as does starting/ continuing the war and tragically neglecting the troops, which has been this administration's m.o. from day one.

All I'm going to say is that when ANY country ANYWHERE

IN THE WORLD:

  1. Has a famine
  2. A natural disaster such as earthquake or tsunami
  3. A slaughter of innocent citizens
  4. An outbreak of some disease
  5. or any other need

American stands up, rolls up its sleeves and pitches in to help. We've sent people along with billions of dollars around the world many times.

And this is the thanks we get! We get morons FROM OTHER COUNTRIES trying to tell us how wrong/dumb/mean/viscious/horrible/stupid we are...

I have no idea why we continue to help the other nations at all!

Talking about the Muslim religion like that must lead to some self-reflection. Most of the Americans that have been commenting on your blog today think that the world is going to end in their lifetime, and that Jesus is going to descend to earth and punish people like me. And that there's going to be a colossal battle between good and evil.

This crazy stuff is believed to different degrees all over the world. But religious countries don't necessarily engage in terrorism. I believe that the Middle East is errupting because they're being shut out of a global economic order that enshrines a very small number of countries into the first world.

In the future - if you stay on the same exclusionary course - America will have to fight these battles with Africans, Chinese, and the rest of the third world...

It's not about religion as much as it's about economics. The Muslim world is not inherently agressive, but they are locked out of the world economic order. No civilisation is going to eat a shit sandwich forever.

Surely the role of the USA, as the current world superpower, is not to 'drive a wedge' between different countries, but to create an inclusive, harmonious, and prosperous vision for the future...

of radical Islam....It can only make sense that we drive a wedge into the heart of the Islamic world  dividing them in two......

As to the blood bath thingy....is this something new?

The last time, we cut and ran in Southeast Asia and the resulting bloodbalth resulted in the loss of millions of lives...the movement then wasn't a religious one...but an evil ideology just the same.

The resulting carnage now if America's left get its "cut and run" way......will one, result in the same kind of numbers, and two.......unlike the Communists in Southeast Asia, who were content to savage their own region.....the Muslin world will be emboldened to carry the fight to us because they will believe they have us in the run......and the fight will be in our streets....instead of on Muslim soil......

Look at the videos and photos of the very small rallies going on....they ARE from the sixties and in their sixties.....how can they motivate and lead the younger throng.   How can the young warriors relate to a crowd that wears depends, and the only thing they are shooting up is botox, and has Hendrix on their iPODS.

They want to think they are making a difference...and they relish in each others praises on there loony blogs of hate.   Another round of Starbucks...we got a phone tree to build.......ROTFLMAO.

No one mentioned sacred....
The point is the hypocrisy of those claiming to support our troops, but oppose the war.

I know you and I are on the far ends of the spectrum here....and what you can do.....I would never do.  But we both are from democracies that allow our different views.

posted by Corbin_Dallas on February 1, 2007 at 6:45 PM | link to this | reply

Corbin

There's nothing sacred about people supporting the troops of their own nation. If American troops have been dispatched to fight a terrible war, failing in its aspirations and without justification (which most Americans now concede), then its logical to give moral support to the other side.

Australian troops are there also, but I would have no problem if a friend told me that he was helping to equip the Iraqi resistance.
