Corbin,

since it's getting a little late in the day, and I am positively enjoying my single malt, I shall refrain making a contribution to this interesting debate - my mind is positively in neutral.

I did notice a positive development with some interest, namely that Krisles has made a very positive comment, and I was wondering, in case she returns and reads this, whether she would read my little tribute to her, fairly recently posted, and maybe comment, preferably in a positive way...

This sounds like the type of book I would really enjoy...

In fact, I probably could have written a book like this.

I've been where this guy is talkin about. Everything in my life came apart thru no fault of my own and I was left adrift. I went thru stages.

I was hurt, bewildered, angry...Then at some point I tried to pick up the peices and go on but that didn't work. so I re-invented myself and went forward as a whole new person.

I'm still tryng to figure out my new life but I'm only 3 years old so I don't think I"m doing too badly for my age....LOL!!

When you write tongue-in-cheek like I do a lot of times, you
come across as a negative person. I have had that happen on several editorials I had in our local newspaper. The e-mails I got were funny. My whole point had been missed. Corbin, I can see you are heading down a rough road if the leftists on here begin to comment. A study was done, and I read about this a few months back, by some of the more liberal thinkers in our colleges and I can bet it's going to show the opposite of what you are going to show. I am anxiously awaiting your next post.

TAPS and Scoop
Nothing is absolute......What I am referring to is the person who may not only write negatively....but is negative toward every aspect of their life.

They have a sucky job because no one recognizes their potential and is holding them back.     All men abuse them or all women use them......I'm fat because people make me nervous.....I'm nervous because  I am fat......

Tell them the bright sun is up this morning and they'll comment "Well it's going to go back down tonight!"

Saturday Night Live used to do a spoof on a family that exemplifies what I am talking about.....I think it was  Brad and Wendy Whiner.....nothing was good in their lives.....

Since this is part one......I can tell you that in part 2, my intent is to show how this transfers into political beliefs........

Corbin good post

TAPS raises a good question about positive/negative. I know that many here may see me as negative but I can write about anything and my only negative is the Iraq war. I think that my sarcasm and being cynical on certain subjects may also be percieved as negative. Many times it is in fun and an attempt at humor.

Other then that I have a great family, a good life and enjoy my retirement.

This is very interesting.  Tell me, do you think that a blogger can consider himself to be a positive writer while at the same time his readers think of him as a negative writer?   If so, and comments from both tend to lean in both directions, doesn't it becomes just a bit confusing and argumentive.

I'm too lazy to look for it right now, but I think it was Einstein who posited that every human has to make the life decision of whether he or she lives in a hostile or a friendly universe.  I've always enjoyed a rather silly game of deciding which camp a person belongs in....and find it quite easy to do with most folks....as you point out, it colors every aspect of their personality and, therefore, approach to life and the choices they make.  I also agree with you that it shines through quite clearly here on Blogit.

This is great material.  I'm one of the positive ones.  Clearly there are things we wished hadn't happened to us.  I'm just a big believer that we are molded by experience and what doesn't kill us makes us stronger.  There have been times in my life that I've felt sorry for myself - who doesn't, now and then - but I refuse to be a victim of circumstance!  I can't wait for you next post on this!
