Be up front...
If that's what you want and need, it won't change.  Getting into a situation where financial security (we're not talking about being rich) is a stress point will take all the romance out and resentment will set in.  It helps if you are on the same page, you might find he feels the same way and that goes for other aspects of a relationship, children, location, housing, romantic inclinations.  Of course one may never find the perfect match, but it is a long haul and believe me when I tell you the little things add up over the years.  We have been together 30 years, a lot of it was filled with penny-pinching.  But we made it, the house is paid for and we just bought our first ever new car.  Get you game plan straight and keep your eye on the prize, time goes by quicker than you think.
