well you know, that's really all we can hope for, to learn from any bad experience and hopefully not repeat it!

Interesting, good post Julia
Yes, I have and yes I did. Lessons learned and hopefully always remembered.

Rachel--
I can imagine it would be hard to explain. We don't even really know how to explain a gut feeling to ourselves, let alone others.

Whacky--
it never seems to turn out good, does it?

Hmm...
I've been pretty good at following my gut.  The difficult part is explaining to other people why you are going down the path that you are just because your gut told you to!  :)

Yep!
Not much fun.

I didn't know that aliens were required to keep a clean house!! ;-)

LOL!

I have some cleaning to get done around the house so I must leave.  Keep laughing while I'm gone!  Talk to you soon!

haha, if I had any doubts before, I am now convinced you have at least SOME alien blood in ya!

You've never heard of Area 55?  It's due south of Area 51, that top secret air force base where they keep Aliens on ice.  Area 55 is a sister-base to Area 51 only it's less top secret.  It's more like a Clinic where qualified clinical specialists determine if humans have alien growth on their body or if their growth is just related to a human DNA mutation.  I must go there and let them decide if what I've perceived as a third nipple is maybe an alien infestation!  LMAO!

Ciel--
thank you for that perspective. It's true, we probably make thousands of choices every single day. Some are big, some are small, but all teach us one thing or another.

OneTime--
I daresay, we'd ALL be able to retire if we got nickels for ignoring our gut.

LMAO! What's Area 55??

posted by Julia. on January 6, 2007 at 1:46 PM | link to this | reply

I've heard that the primary curriculum in this "school"
is learning to make choices.  I believe it. So much of what we deal with in the world is divided into dichotomies, choices are called for constantly.  And by getting it wrong, we learn how to get it right: how to hear the small voices within, for instance, and which ones to go along with...

posted by Ciel on January 6, 2007 at 1:38 PM | link to this | reply

Julia.. oh what tangle lives we lead

......or something like that.

I wish I had a nickle for everytime I ignored that "voice" and paid dearly. You are so right.. sometimes it SCREAMS at me!

By golly, I do have an extra protrusion.  And all this time I thought it was just a 3rd nipple.  Holey Moley!  I need to get to Area 55 Fast!  LMAO!

But Presley--
Are you sure that you don't see any alien tentacles poking through your human disguise? LMAO.

Julia
LMAO...I think I'm human!  I was the last time I looked.

I've discredited my intution more times than not, and I always find myself frustrated that I didn't listen to my self

the past has passed, look forward now and keep on paying heed to your gut, and all will be well.

posted by Julia. on January 6, 2007 at 11:19 AM | link to this | reply

Yeah you are right....Julia.

but, often when I am alone, I do beat myself up for that, more so cos I knew it was wrong, but went a head anyway....I am not alone though...as friends and family were fooled...so although I do beat myself up....I too, do think...great I learned from that...wont be fooling for that again.

gut instinct...takes me everywhere now....I was young and nieve then....well so I like to think.

Symphony--
and that you did learn, is cause for celebration instead of beating yourself up for the past mistake--right??

Ody--
I have seen disastrous consequences from not listening to my gut, so though the temptation to discount it is always strong, I do try.

I never listened to my "gut instinct" and did pay the price.

I met this bloke and was really into him...my heart would miss a beat seeing him...etc...then he asked me out....and of course I said yes...

when we were seeing eachother...few months down the line...I felt things about him was not right... but, because I was in love I went with it.

I had a child by him and married him...even though I had doubts...

I was with him for nearly 8 years when I knew I was defiently wrong ...(he was controlling and violant)

I have been away from him now about two years...but, I still beat myself up...cos I knew he wasn't right in the beginning....now I always go on gut instinct....At least I learnt!

I think your are right that this intuition, or conscience, that you refer..
..to is very much worth listening to.
