I have no doubt that everything has a soul of a kind and
that being given 'dominion' (according to Genesis), means
stewardship, not
domination. I suspect there is a great karmic debt humanity must pay for how we have used animals in our wars and laboratories.
I wrote a blog on "What Makes Man So Special" a while back... Most of the old standard answers have gone out the window in the past few years, as we realize that other creatures are capable of tool-making and language, for instance.
I think we may be the only creature that makes excuses...
