My heart just aches for you. You say it feels strange to mourn a death that has not happened. I don't think you are mourning a death but instead the life that will never be the same again.

when you tell of your sister, it brings back memories of my grandmother, whom I visited in the hospital, where she was dying of lung cancer. I was fourteen, I loved her dearly, and I was upset and scared. And I will never forget how this poor, emaciated, once beautiful lady smiled for me and, in her pain, tried to comfort
