- Go to Faded: Rediscovering My Desert Places
There's a reason we have memories..so as not to repeat some performances.
My similar introspective night was IN the desert, Owl Creek campground before they added anything but a shed around the pit latrine. ANother noght alone in the back of a Ford pickup under a poncho tarp eating boiled spam and canned blackberries wold be a survival exercise, not an introspective retreat.

Freemanwalking, Thomas Wolfe called his book, "You Can't Go Home Again"
for a reason. There's no way I could go back to Medford, Oregon after 25 years, even if I would ,and thank God I don't have to. Even the idea made me queasy.
After Iraq, Iceland, the Calfiornia Redwoods and our own Olympic Hoh Rain Forest, I'm not saying that Cumberland is inferior, just that it won't ever be the same.
(And are you okay after that fall. My God, what were you thinking going out in the snow by yourself? Grrr.).
