- Go to What Is With The Nightmares!? (UPDATED)

Wow! Thanks! Very interesting!
Yeah, I know Spitfire lost her mom. How sad.
But thanks for your insights and the info from your book. I really do appreciate it!

Okay Jemmie, here's what my dream dictionary says in response to fire
or flames in one's dreams:
fire is an ambiguous symbol, it destroys, yet in doing so purifies, and in doing so clears a path for new growth. It hints at the need to clear up troubling issues that have been cluttering a relationship.....
Unsuspected anger toward someone can be revealed by a sudden discharge of gas or flames from a container....
Flames give off both heat (commonly associated with strong emotions such as love and anger) and light (which often serves as a symbol of self-knowledge.....
No one has an easy time dealing with anger, or with mother issues. It sounds to me (totally unprofessional and untrained, btw) that this is the case here. Just from looking in a book. Only you'd really know.
But as for the shooting of your friend, a teacher is an authority figure, feared or admired and often seen as a mother or father figure. A school is often a symbol of youth or emotional immaturity. A gun is a weapon representing male sexuality, and the firing of the gun more specifically orgasm, with the discharge of the bullet. (I didn't write it, I'm just repeating what I read LOL) while being unable to contact your boss seems to signify being unable to contact the parent of that sex. Dreams of killing all depend on who the killer was, and who the victim. A hooligan seems to express negative aspects of unbridled energy, while the friend appears to have no special significance. She is who she is, at least in your dream context. Killing in general seems to denote weakening of ingrained modes of thought and action that have been inhibiting your personal growth.
There. That will teach you to try and analyze your dreams with the help of bloggers. IMHO, you are dealing with strong but bottled emotions toward your mother, and desiring a cleansing and a fresh start with her. Your friend seems to have little significance past a representation of your youth, as did the school you arrived at to pick something up. It seems you are feeling a need to let go of outdated parts of your personality.
Don't fret either way. Dreams of that nature are seldom literal. Your friend and your mother are probably in no danger of being shot or bursting into flames. :)
I know, I know. You don't have to send flowers, a simple 'thanks' will do. LMAO
BTW, Spitfire is good at dream analysis, however I doubt she's even been to Blogit. She just lost her mom. ):

But I didn't really have anything traumatic happen a year ago. Daddy died two years ago. But who knows. I know I am still crying over his death. Perhaps that's why I am having these nightmares.

Jemmie, my guess is...
that your brain is "dumping." About a year after every traumatic or emotionally difficult situation that I've ever had to deal with, I have a week to a month of horrendous nightmares. After that, I don't seem to worry/struggle/obsess over the issue anymore.
It's kind of like when you detox your body by going on a special diet, and you eliminate all kinds of weird stuff, and then you feel better. Your brain must sometimes have to dump all the toxic thoughts, experiences, and memories so that it can make room for the new stuff.
That's my guess, anyway.

I don't think she'd do something quite that . . . well, stupid. But I certainly am wondering what this all means!

That dream sounds especially scary given your mother's history of alcoholism. When "under the influence," alcoholics often do irresponsible things.
