I have three cats, all female. One is a stray who wandered in 16 years ago, one I purchased and the other I got from a free box. They are great companions and I hope that one can live with you.

If you're going to keep him, then by all means...
Take him to the vet and get a check up and get him spayed or neutered. It's money well spent.
