It was just my opinion stated here - my own rant if you like. The story has been everywhere these past couple of weeks - on TV, radio, blogs, newspapers, magazines etc  so my post did not suddenly spring from your post. Even if it had, that would be OK wouldn't it? There is room for all of our views. Take care

I think, if you're an important celebrity like Madonna, you should be able to ...

pick out any impoverished child you want (orphan or otherwise), play with him for a little while, and then (if you so choose) bring him back or just exchange him for a new one.

Instead of mousetraps,
what about baby traps?
Not to harm the babies,
but just to hold them down
until they can be safely removed.

may I just say this
my posts are usually not serious posts about world issues.  they are just rants about my daily life.  i am quite aware of the "important" problems in our society - i just choose not write about it - as people choose not to read my posts.

I agree....the world is full of injustice.

Just airing my irrascibility.

And, while I haven't mentioned "Madonna", I have mentioned Oprah Winfrey. Might toss in Bill and Melinda Gates.

I'm sure one must find the help and the good deeds where they can be found and celebrate their presence.

Or, as the Viet Cong and now Al Qaeda, Taliban and Hammas do, they distribute the good deeds while killing and defaming others who would choose to help also in their sphere of control (which is how they see it having been done to their neck of the woods by Christian, Western, and enemy faction forces buying community support by doing good deeds. The Black Panthers ran soup kitchens and taught armed revolution in Berkely and Detroit, no?).

Good deeds are like any other tool, and the good deed for one (building a dam on the Nile to stop floods, make electricity and store water) can be ruin for another (downstream felaheen are deprived of the annual floods that revive their lands, schistosomiasis from snails living behind the dam causes blindness in poor peolple living on its banks, the electricty is sent to the cities and [along with the water] priced too highly for common rural folk such as those flooded out when the waters rose).

All my sheer codgerliness and irrascibility. But your use of my nom de blog got me to read and write. Blog on!!

a direct hit - but you didn't sink my battleship
there are many other topics in the world that are more compelling than Madonna - I just chose to write about her because she gets on my nerves - who gets on your nerves?
