Schatz,
First of all, when you said, "It's good to make sure that they know that at all times you are available and that you approve of them, even when you do not approve of what they do." That was totally poetic!! Perfect. Secondly, I think one of the problems besides parents not encouraging their kids to get off the couch or computer and go out and actually MOVE AROUND a little, our wonderful so-called president enforced eliminating Physical Ed, music, and many art classes in schools to save money. Yeah, that's healthy. And they wonder why kids are overweight and more and more are becoming diabetics.  However, the frivolous, useless money that is spent entrapping consending adults for prostitution is much more important.

I wholly agree with you. The sexual revolution was a joke.

We fell for it. And now we've given away something that our daughters will have to fight hard to reclaim. How sad.

But no one is modeling that behavior for girls. Therein lies the problem. Women in the media display emaciated bodies with barely some gauze and beads covering them up. This is what young girls are emulating. Not strong intelligent women. Models and pop stars. What can we do to change it?

I say shut off the tv. Talk to one another.

They always told the girls in the days of respect that boys won't respect them if they let them take advantage before marriage.  It's still true today, and to live a life of freedom, without the broken hearts, is to me, every smart girl's goal.
