Avant, you've had a lot to deal with this week.

Death is a difficult at its best. A new daddy experience I guess. How will you tell the boys?

Actually, it was two days ago. Very fresh still.

It will take awhile for it to set in. It happened just two days ago.

Avant, I am sorry to hear that this was so recent. I had thought this was
one of your earlier experiences.  My heart goes out to this man's family, and to your whole communiity. In an area as small as you are in, it must be very close.  It's been a week for you, hasn't it?

That is exactly what everyone around here is right now. He was killed the day before yesterday in a head on collision. He was thought to have had a heart attack and went into the opposite lane. The driver of the other vehicle is in stable condition.

so sad, although I just caught your story and know little...
Don't know what to say really, it leaves me speechless.

Thanks. I'm not sure anything great will come out of it, but it does make everyone stop and reprioritize.

PostSmile!  Very Sad.. I hope the family remains close and comfort one another. I tried to round up two dogs one time when they escaped from a neighbors yard and they almost got me run over. I know you'll do your best for the family.

Your story is touching and significant.  I hope the memories of this fine man will enrich your community.

Avant-Garde, it makes me think of what legacy I want to leave.
Because nothing in life is guaranteed, especially not life itself.  I  have good news, the editor contacted me. I hope things go that way for you, too, you're an amazingly good writer, I hope with a great future for your paramedic stories.  I've never read any similar ones.

Avant isn't it amazing that from something so sad as death
healing can come to those left behind? Sorry you have lost the physical presence of a friend. I believe there always remains an emotional and spiritual connection with those who die before us. Maybe your support can lead this family to peace and growth in love for one another. Well written story, thanks for sharing!  faholo

Well, as far as this situation is concerned, there has been some feuding going on. Really petty stuff. Hopefully, this will wake some of them up.

...death changes you... no matter how many times you cross
paths with it... there's always some change within... well written, very sensitive...

death may bring people closer, or drive them further apart...
it's never easy to know.  This was well written.

How very sad! It is hard to go to be in a familiar place and not have the familiar people there. Every loss is noticeable..
