I think hugging and tellng our family members
how much we love them is really important. Especially when we never really know when the last time is that we'll ever get to see them again before it's too late.

Thanks Passionflower.
Yes, I realized, after putting that in, that not everyone would be keen on hugging their family members.  But I did hope that for most it would be a positive experience!  Blessings to you.

Blanche, that's a good one! Thanks for sharing.

What did you call it?  Dulce vita?  Oooooh I like that!

Yeah, we nurses do have some odd inside jokes, for sure.

It's good that both you and your sister are nurses, and have your inside

joke, JanesO, there must be things in your profession that no one else would get, or not be immediatley grossed out by., re the cake, but would be hilariiously funny to the two of you.

To me, having someone to share jokes with, stories, my day, is vital, and yes,I do know that warm feeling. You are right, that is what the good life, the real dolce vita is about.

Sounds like a splendid evening for all of you, and your response to your sister's question about dinner reminds me of two grizzled mountaineers, one coming up to the other as he was roasting an animal on a spit, and asking, "What's for dinner?" and the other replying, "Growin' particular?"  LOL>

Yeah, TAPS, you can relate, eh?

There are times, at the dinner table, when my dad will call "time out" -- and usually it's when my mom (also a nurse) my sis and I are going at it too much.  More than he wants to hear!  Funny, eh?

And you'll remember this -- funny how you could respond to a patient disaster, go clean up a mess (blood, diarrhea or emesis), and then eat your lunch as if it was no big deal right???

Thanks -- Offbeats and TAPS -- for stopping by!

JanesOpinion, Its amazing what nurses can talk about while eating without being grossed out.   I have to watch myself because taking about things that seem to be very natural to me seem to make other people squeamish.

Janes
Oh man...now I will be craving chocolate cake all day! Sounds like a wonderful time and a delicious dinner!

Whacky, there was leftover cake; however,
I always send leftovers home with my sis.  So sadly, no midnight forays into the kitchen for me.
