TAPS-
Thanks for coming by!  When I first had the surgery and it was still experimental, I had two batteries that were defective and had to be replaced.  (they developed leaks)  As the program progressed, defective machinery is what held up FDA approval.  I had one other unexplained malfunction.  Depending on the amount of "juice" you pull from the batteries, determines their "shelf" life, so to speak.  I have had ONE battery die of old age and it lasted about three years.  This one will have lived about that long, too.

ceemarie, Did they give you a defective battery before?  Why did it wear out so fast?  It's a long time until Thanksgiving.  They missed that by a mile.  I hope you don't have to wait long.

Hi SuccessWarrior!
Thank you and welcome!  To give you some background about what my batteries to, visit this blog: http://www.blogit.com/Blogs/Blog.aspx/ceemarie53631/405455

I describe the brain surgery I had in 1999 to help me move more normally.  The batteries are implanted in my chest and they control electric stiumulators connected to wires which go to a very specific part of the brain, the SubThalamic Nucleus.  The electrical charges somehow straighten out the misfiring going on in my brain (which sounds like static on an AM radio.)  They've returned my life to one of more normalcy; i.e. I don't look like some drunk staggering down the street!

I refuse to give in or give up my life to this disease.  I'm bucking the odds now and I will continue to do so with a whole lot of faith and a whole lot of love!!
