Symphony,
I believe it's our job to do what we can for each other.  Thanks for stopping in.

Genius,
yes, I was relieved to know that there was something the company could do to help.

They do need Him during this difficult time in their lives.

Straight, it doesn't help that the people I work for tend to
shy away from making decisions.

although it is miserable for you to be dealing with, it is heartening to know that companies do take care of their employees.  My company just fired a guy and gave him a severance package of 4 weeks pay and insurance.

Word. You've done everything you can.
This is definitely something that needs to be put into God's hands.  I hope that he and his wife also find comfort in God.

So much thinking has to go behind every decision, ain't it?

Blanche,

I've asked his doctor to evaulate him before he comes back to work.  After that we can move on with whatever else he needs. Unfortunately, my bosses work elsewhere and do not have the time to deal with the matter themselves.  However, what has been happening is that I communicate with them via phone and email and make recommendations as I see fit.  That has worked up until now.

Thankfully, when things get stressful I do what is necessary.  I pray.

Good, I'm glad there is some professional help available, Word.smith,

Once he's seen and evaluated, someone may start taking this more seriously.  Again, though, I'd caution against anyone being overly optimistic about a speedy recovery.  You must care about him a great deal to have taken so many steps. I pray that someone takes this burden off your shoulders, and that he and his wife get the help they so desperately need.

Take care of yourself as well. This must be very stressful.

Jacenta,
Thanks for coming by.  I must come and have a look at your pictures. They always lift my spirit.

Blanche.
I talked to a doctor on the matter.  He is a member of the organization and  had offered to enroll him at the mental health clinic at the University Hospital and then all the stuff happened.  I suspect that we will have to do just that, because at $3,500.00 (US54.00) a pop to see the psychiatrist, it will be hard on his wife.  The clinic at the hospital will cost $700 (US11.00).  I'll broach that option to his wife and himself and see what they say.  I don't suppose they will be against having him treated there.  The medication will also be a lot cheaper at the hospital dispensary.

Azur, thanks.
When things like these happen, I wonder what will happen to me if I am in the same position. I can but hope and pray for the best if the unexpected happens.

You are a good soul, Wordsmith, to care, and it must be exhausting,

Honestly, though, I'd hate to have to break it to his wife, (and I think I was harsh, I read JohnMcNab's comment and it made sense), she must be just desperately trying to hold on, but from dealing with mental illness and seeing it in others, I'd say it will take much longer than a month for him to recover.

It's not your problem, really. Somehow, though, a social worker at the hospital or in the government needs to intervene, some sort of social services, because he will probably need at least two years of care, to recover from such a sevrre illness.  You are very good to care, but this is way beyond the scope of what the company or you should be expected to handle.  Again, I'd say social services needs to step in.
