Thank you for the kind words, and for the info about your organization.  I'll check the website out when I get a chance.

I whole-heartedly agree

The only thing we could genuinely know for sure is ourselves and how we feel, everything else is based on belief. I teach writers to express from that angle. I'm a member of an e-publishing organization, and we're looking for talented writers to publish, see our site www.e-bookpublishing.info

let me know your thoughts, cheers

Point well taken -- I agree.  I like the humor of your comment.  It pays not to take ourselves too seriously and to poke a little fun at ourselves.

I would like to plead the 5th, want my attorney,
and would like to point out that the accuser is profiling bloggers.  =)

Don't sell yourself short.  It's for others to determine how interesting we are.  I know I tend to be a little too critical of myself at times -- and at other times I probably come off as too egotistical.  But, as I said, it's always for others to judge because we are to close to the subject.

Thanks for the click.

Some people are better at disguising themselves than others, but on the whole I agree with you.  You can learn an awful lot about a person by examining a representative sample of his or her work.  In particular you can spot a lot of commonalities that show you what a person is really like.

Thanks for engaging in the dialogue.

I write much better about others than myself because.......................
others are far more interesting

If one really wants to know another person well,
read his/her fictions. We are all part of our own stories, and that's where the fun is... and guilt.

I agree with you to a certain extent.  Rice and King obviously (I hope) don't know some of the things they write about.  But I do think they write what they know and embellish it generously from their vivid imaginations.  All of us can imagine some pretty grisly and horrible things if we put our minds to it.

Thanks for the visit.  Glad you enjoyed the post enough to give me a comment like that.

I thought I'd strike a common cord with a few people.  Glad you liked it.  Thanks a lot for stopping by.

and to write what we know, we must first know...
ourselves! But as for this: "Little writing of any type is created totally from the imagination." I'm not sure I totally agree. I think of writer's like Anne Rice or Stephen King and I can't imagine anyone "knowing" some of the things they write about...great post!
