Jane's
Help is available for her. I am not surprised that she did not take it because they are a very proud people, but do not think of the government being people  just that it has money. The system will break down the way it is working. In every community I know of there are food banks, food stamps, in most of the large cities CBN has a group called Opperation Blessing which does everything from supply food to take care of medical needs. Churches are helping. All of the women in my classes this season have been wihtout any place to live, wihtout jobs and without money and most with children. We have millions of Americans who go to work and are homeless. We have people who can not get a place to live because they can not get enough to pay the down payments on the utilities. We have lots of hunger right in our country.

babe that's what I was thinking, too.
There are some good food pantries in the area.  I hope she knows where to look . . . .

TAPS, it makes you wonder how much
or how little we REALLY need to live on, eh?

JanesOpinion, When I was working full time and receiving a nurse's salary, I'm afraid that I wasted an awful lot of it.  I try to be a little more frugal now being as how I have no idea how long I will be having to live on what I have saved.   But, I'll bet I'm not the only wastrel around.

TAPS, good point!
The pastor took a poll this morning and got a rough estimate on what amount people thought was a reasonable amount to live on.  Most people came up with $50,000.  Such an amount would be in the top 1%.  Do we REALLY need that much?

Corbin you're welcome.
It does help us gain perspective, eh?  And how much we truly have to be thankful for???

JanesOpinion, It is pretty sobering to think that even if all I had to live on were the Social Security I receive since I turned 65, I would still be in the top 13% of the whole world.
