Hello Word.Smith
Welcome Back - I just found your new post. Congratulations on finishing your novel! I'm hoping to finish one of mine someday soon - the problem is in deciding which of the ten or so seedlings I've started to delve back into and complete, lol. Needing more money can be a great motivator. Good Luck.

LOL at Madem's expression...very clever.
I think alot of families feel the crunch this time of year.

There's an old Russian saying:

Я желаю я имело доллар для каждого доллара, котор я трачу

which translates to: "I wish I had a dollar for every time I spent a dollar,
because then, I'd have all my money back."

I can't stand cheap people.
It makes me real mad when someone says something like,
"Hey, when are you going to pay me that $100 you owe me?"
or "Do you have that $50 you borrowed?"
Man, quit being so cheap!

Julia,
It took me six months to get the first book done, but now I have another that I can't seem to finish and I have quite a long way to go.  Added to that, I've started a third one, a sequel to the first and I've lost the drive to continue with either of them. The good thing is that one day - dunno how far that is in the future - I'll wake up and start writing again, like I never stopped.   I hope you find the drive you need to continue with the two works you've started. They'll niggle at you until you get them completed.

Azur

We wamt to give our children all the opportunities we can and that involves sacrifice.  Sometimes we just don't realize all the costs that will be attached at the outset.  I dread thinking about what we'll have to spend as our son gets older.

that's an interesting phrase.
I have to give you kudos for actually being able to finish the novel, as I have started both a screenplay and novel and not finished either of them. Kinda pathetic of me, and I feel awful about it, I just don't know how to change it. Or maybe I do, but I feel stuck.

Good work
although I have long since realised it's best to keep fiction writing and income needs seperate. Adds too much pressure to think of it as a job. I know what you mean about costs. My son is a gifted soccer player and suddenly we have all of these amazing opportunities to advance him - all hugely expensive
