Don't read my mind, read my words. Look at my comment again, the second paragraph. You are completely mistaken or intentionally insulting with your comment concerning the picture. You say my thinking is wishy-washy, but you haven't told me why. How much police/military scrutiny did you suffer after Timothy McVeigh? The Unibomber? I'll tell you how much. None. Yet you want different standards for Arab citizens? I ask you again. When the proper American authorities pick an Arab out of the crowd on American soil, what do you want them to do with him?

Great Post ~~ It has become nessasary because we've worried about the wrong things  for too long. My last name could draw attention but I wouldn't mind being pulled aside, if that is what needs to be done in order to insure our safety in the air. I may become a little embarrassed but I will get over it quickly.

I just saw this picture of a sign......

This expresses the logic Talion is using............

I have never seen anything wrong with profiling. It's the world we live in and despite (and respect to) Talions comment, I do not see where it got us here. I can say if we would have implemented way back, we might not be having this conversation!

Talion.....
I guess we'll just have to disagree....as far as I am concerned...that kind of wishy-washy thinking is what got us where we are today.........it's not a criminal proceeding....it a war!

Corbin,
a most important and serious point, and so humorously made! Ariel has already expressed my own sentiments regarding this matter very well, so all I add is a big

You good folks in here ought to study the British police's handling of fooball hooligans.Admittedly, they are an easily identiable group, but I'm sure there are some lessons to be learned in this.

In Spain, they just bail 'em, escort 'em to the airport/ferry, cos the know they ain't gonna come back and face a Spanish jail.

To my mind, it's simple ; airlines are like a club, if you don't like the rules, don't join.

If you don't like profiling, don't fly.

Ah, I forgot, we've got to change every single thing known to man, in case we might offend the almighty Mulims, whose every wish must be granted. We white folk are getting to an oppressed minority in our own countries

Your headline advocates profiling terrorists. It sounds like a wonderful idea, but lets look at the practical application. How do you pick "Islamist males between the ages of 17 and 40" out of a crowd? How can you tell a man's religion by looking at him? You can't. What you really should say is "Arab males between the ages of 17 and 40." Okay, let's proceed. How do you pick an Arab man out of a crowd? Skin tone? The way he's dressed? Shape of his nose? Accent? Is the guy from Lebanon, Pakistan, India, or Hawaii? What do you do once you have the Arab guy picked out? Ask for identification? Search his person and belongings? When you mention profiling, what do you suggest law enforcement authorities do?

If an individual is acting suspicious, by all means monitor him, stop him, ask him questions, do everything the law allows to determine if there's a potential crime, regardless of how he looks. If he isn't doing anything, what right do the authorities have to detain him? What happened to the lofty ideals of judging by the content of character as opposed to how a person looks?

This is an excellent post. Truth needs to be posted as often as is possible. There is so much propaganda on this writing community now that it is disgusting. Keep them coming. Be blessed.

The inconvenience of being blown up mid-flight, far outweighs the inconvenience of  a pre-boarding security search.

forgive the language but this is what came to mind when I saw your headline:  profiling my ass!

When I went to pick Carl up last year for leave I was granted something that most no longer get, I was able to meet him at the gate and when he returned I was able to go to the gate with him.  This is something that is only allowed to the family of soldiers, minors flying and those who need assistance because of their health.

I went through security and was made to take off my shoes and all of my jewelry including my wedding ring.  I have not taken off that ring in almost 10 years, this was not something that set well with me, but I understood why.  I was close to tears when I took it off and the man at the check point or whatever it was called could see I was having a problem taking it off.  He apologized to me.  He had nothing to be sorry about, if that meant that it would keep us safer.

When I took Carl back, granted he was given priority and sent through the first class security area versus the long line with everyone else, but he was also put through the same thing.  There he was in uniform with pants in his boots and lined up exactly as they should be and he had to take off the boots  and socks and even his dog tags before proceeding.  He was taking his laptop onto the plane with him and I swear they darn near took the thing apart.  This was a US soldier with a ticket issued by the US military.  He did not get out of any of it.  So, I suppose they were profiling him too?

No, everyone goes through the security and if you aren't doing anything wrong you will find yourself getting on your flight and reaching your destination SAFELY!

I don't care what they do as long as we don't have planes blowing up or being flown into buildings.

An excellent post! Thank you.

IN a long life, I cannot recall us ever being in such a trance of denial about certain subjects. During my lifetime, Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin, all had their apologists, but general common sense maintained a grip upon reality, and a true recognition of their true natures. But after WWII we seem to have slowly lost our wits completely.

Those who have imposed mass immigration, destruction and dilution of indigeneous cultures, and Inquisition-like suppression of free speech upon us have an awful reckoning due to them. History will look back upon our age as The Age Of Unreason.

But will it ever come? Dream on.
