When I posted this yesterday morning.....
it was before the breaking of the news about the plot to blow up the planes........looks like to me it proves there's even more need to remember what happened.......because the threat hasn't gone away and in spite of people like Mystic............we have to realize that we are fighting a continuing war against terror.

We forget or remember . . .
. . . based on what is politically expedient and correct for us to do. Consequence of a society being stripped of its absolutes of right and wrong.

Well, people do have to move on eventually.
Recently someone asked me how long ago my father died, and I couldn't remember. I had to do the math on my fingers (2003).
Besides, there are parts of the world where such bombings are (practically) routine daily occurrences. And yet, those people have learned to just ignore it and go on with their lives. Thus, why shouldn't we?
If I was the head of a country that lost a war, and I had to sign a peace treaty,
just as I was signing I'd glance over the treaty and then suddenly act surprised.
"Wait a minute! I thought WE won!"

Corbin_Dallas, I think its just that time passes by so quickly that in no way does it seem that long ago. For me it seems as if it were just yesterday that I was so horrified at what was taking place. I just wrote a poem about the anniversary of the death of my youngest son. Wouldn't you think that I would remember what year that happened. But, I always have to figure the year by the association of the age of my grandson who was three months old when his father died. So, I had to subtract 18 from 2006 and came up with 1988. Its not as if I would ever forget my son or what he went through or how much I miss him. But, somehow what year it is pales in comparison to all the other details.

Corbin,
people's forgetfulness never fails to amaze me! I know
exactly where I was and what I did the moment I heard the news first! And I remember the first words I used when I called a friend of mine. I said "The world as we knew it has changed forever..."

That shocks me because even as a Canadian that date is locked in my head. Maybe because my wife died the year before

BA....
I did the same.....it's funny that this poll came up supporting what we were saying.........part of it comes from the Mainstream Media's decision to literally never cover it again ( I mean the film and photos). It was too shocking.....it would traumatize the children......
Personally I think that was a wrong decision.......

I know, I commented on Shelly's Post the other day about why I felt that people should go see the movie. I thought it might have seemed silly for me to say at the time, that I thought a lot of Americans had forgotten about the attacks on 9/11.
Even though Hollywood was profiting....etc. , I still think it is important to show films and keep reminders of this event alive, so that we do not forget about the lost lives and why the fight against terrorism is important. I also think that it is important to support the efforts of the government with National Security.
