benzinha- NOW THERE'S AN IDEA!!!!
I'd so like to see the Pitbull "trainers" of these poor creatures get mauled by a tiger, or even a pack of mean Pitbulls that they have trained. Oh, I'd pay good money for that show!!

Spitfire, maybe you could borrow Roy's tiger for use in their pitbull owner re-training.

Thanks Simplysherry

for your comment. Yes, it's a cruel world. However, many of my unsuspecting clients are unaware of this Spitfire's wrath. I do not and will not go unheard by these idiots that harm animals. For I AM a voice for the voiceless. I have embarrassed many morons coming into my hospital with a Pitbull who has been seriously injured with punctures and gashes. "So, what happened?" I ask.  "Um, well, he got into a fight with the neighbor's dog." they sheepishly reply. "Uh, huh, and I don't suppose there happend to be A PITBULL RING AND BETTING GOING ON, RIGHT, CHIEF?"   Assholes. I'd love to throw their low-life, drug-dealing, non-employed, living off parents' asses into a ring with a big ol' Komodo Dragon or two, and maybe throw in a cute and cuddly looking grizzly that have both been starved and beaten for days (as they do to "train" the Pitbulls) and let them have at 'em. Man, I'd make some serious money for tickets! Hmmmm....

I feel for you.

I don't understand some people either.  I watch animal planet all the time and I love to watch programs like Animal Precinct and such.  I get so angry when I see what some of these people do to animals.  But the fact that an animal shelter is giving an animal to a potential harmful person, that is just plain irresponsible.  I wish you luck in your endeavor.

Actually, there were COMBINED Humane Societies for children and animals.
But not for wives.

You go girl!  Crabby's points are valid, too.  That poor woman sounds like she needs counseling.  Obviously, she thought she was doing the right thing for her pets and that is evidence of a lack of normal common sense.  The burden of the guilt does lie with the Animal Control staff, though.  I always sort of thought I would have been a good vet, but I'm not sure that I could put up with the owners.  I'd probably end up behind bars.

You are very right... and to be an advocate for animals is a wonderful calling
Don't tell anyone... But Crabby's pets are just additional children.

I think that's sad...
However, I don't work for the welfare and care of children; though I sympathize with them grately due to the f***ed up system. But, I do work and dedicate my career to the welfare and care of animals and this is where my voice, expertise, and "pull" lay. I have gone to court hearings on my own time in my county and won to change the law against anyone driving with dogs unsecured in the beds of trucks and also to make harsher penalties for animal abuse and neglection offenders. There are problems with our county animal control that I hear every day...such as calls made to them regarding injured or abused/neglected animals that I have personally followed up on and nothing has been done. They are real quick to come out to residences when the pet is overdue for their Rabies License to collect their fees, but when it comes to abuse/neglect they can't be bothered most of the time. It's all about how much f'ing money they can pull out of ANYONE. Obviously, in this case, it was about how much money they could get out of this woman and not about the welfare, life, or future of these animals. I could almost forgive the fact that they gave a few kittens back, but in the condition they gave this one particular one back to her was dispicable and unexcusable. This kitten was so thin and ill you could...well, I'll spare the details.   It seems that money talks louder than the future welfare and concern for children and animals alike.

Well Spitball.. there are people who are living in their cars with their
children.... Crabby has actually seen people lose an animal more quickly in these situations than a child... hell as a matter of g'dang fact... there was a Humane Society before there was ever Children's Social Service Agency... HS was in fact the inspiration to form a service for abandoned, abused and neglected children.
