Kids don't understand everything...
no matter how clear you try to make it, sometimes they get it, sometimes they don't. Some of the misunderstandings I've had with my son are very amusing, but if it's important they understand, then it's a good idea to check to see what they THINK they know after the conversation is over, that's for sure.

I'm so sorry you still blame yourself for hurting your friend...
You truly didn't do anything wrong. Your intentions were good and your thinking sound. Besides, you were only a girl and didn't have too much experience at life.
You must stop feeling bad about this.
