Rice is worthless, OFFBEATS. Never been anything but a Bush
yes-woman and an GOP party-line patsy.  She's just the frontwoman for a an administration whose foreign policy and international diplomatic standards have set a new low.  Support her if you like, she was ineffectual as National Security Advisor, she's just as ineffectual in her current position.  Hey, but the photo-op was a stunning success.  By the way, the humor lies in the satire, so it's a bit dark.  Bring a lantern.

The humor in this is lost on me! Connie is doing a great job, it wasn't her that started this mess, let's not forget the taking of the Israel soliders and the fact many bombs in Lebanon were at Israel's border.

Unfortunately, colbor. This is a forever war...

Sad, but so true!

There would have been no cease-fire, DarrkeThoughts. Israel would not
have acquiesced to one and Hezbollah would not have honored one.  Both parties are in a mutual retaliation mode right now.  No, what Rice did was absolutely nothing, because doing nothing promotes the Bush agenda of the War on Terror, occupies a known extensive international terrorist organization (and keeps them from terrorizing other parts of the world to a degree), and keeps the administration in good graces with Israel (who were justified in their initial retaliation) and its conservative Chistian-based constituency.  And that's not including the fact that, if Israel is successful in damaging and disabling some or much of Hezbollah's organizational infrastructue, then so much the better.  The only credit she is due is for diverting everything toward the U.N., which is exactly what she was sent to do to gain Israel more time.

Thank you, Tanga. It annoys me that these guys go for these photo-ops
and accomplish nothing...

Nothing???
But if she wasn't there they would have had a cease fire!!  She stopped that horror from happening...give the girl some credit.

Good post
Cannot make much of a comment as you have said it all.

She has done nothing but meet my expectations of her, Mademoiselle. And
the U.N. is only as good or as strong as its members' willingness to make it so...

Um ... okaaaay.

I don't know what anyone honestly expected Rice's trip to actually accomplish, anyway.

P.S. The UN is totally worthless, btw.
