Fit my description in "Through a Glass Darkly." They are predominantly left, but you have identified some of the religious writers who also fit the pattern. As I watched the American election results, I couldn't help but recall this article, and my prediction that "they" will win from time to time, and will stay in power until the populace gets sick and tired of the inevitable mess they will create.
It's going to be fun to watch.

. . and could be speaking of any number of people, inside or outside of politics, religion . . or both.
