Damon, it might be worthwhile to shift this discussion...
To my new blog specifically set up for The Chicken Little Agenda. Thanks.

Gee, Damon...

Lighten up a bit.

I am just as interested about the future of our planet as anyone else with any ability to think. After all, at this point we have nowhere else to go. What I don't want to do is spend our limited resources on "problems" that aren't.

I can't tell if you have read the preceding posts, but my beef is not with whether or not global warming is real, but with the incredible amount of misinformation that is being foisted on the general public.

If you were to take the time to investigate who the scientists are that are making so much noise, you would discover that most of them are specialists in entirely other areas. Their general scientific education certainly gives them the ability to understand the problem, but I suspect that they either have not spent sufficient time looking at all the data, or they have let themselves be maneuvered into untenable positions by others who have specific political agendas.

Bottom line is that we can better use our limited resources developing and building nonpolluting energy sources such as breeder reactors, solar power satellites, and – eventually – fusion power (perhaps even so-called cold-fusion). More about all this later.

I would be delighted to send you a signed copy of my book. Order it through my website, leave me a note so I know it is you, and add sufficient funds to cover any extra postage. PayPal will notify me, and I will get a copy off to you right away. I keep a few around here just for such situations. (The same is true for any other Blogit members – just follow the above instructions, and identify yourself as a member of Blogit.)

Damon – you and I have tangled before, and I have often been frustrated with my inability to penetrate your shield. I spent 23 years defending the rights of Americans to speak their own minds and have their own points of view. As I have said several times since returning to Blogit, all I ask in return is intellectual honesty from those who disagree with me. I promise to be true to ALL the facts, and to make sure that I deal ONLY with facts in making up my mind. I trust that when you have read my book, you will begin to see what I have been writing about for so long. Let the facts be what they are, and adjust your point of view to accommodate all the facts. When you discover something that doesn't fit your point of view, examine it closely to make sure it is factual, and then – if it is – adjust your point of view to accommodate it. I have done this all my life, which is how I have arrived at my present perspective.

In The Chicken Little Agenda, I try to put all this into perspective, to show where some of the misconceptions are, who is perpetrating them, what the actual facts are, and – my opinion now – what to do about it. If you take the book in this light, you may not laugh quite so much. Some of what I present is pretty scary, in terms of what is currently believed by many, what the actual facts are, and what is the impact of this kind of misunderstanding.

Please let me hear from you after you read the book.

Ooooohhhhhh....
....a debunking book that is just BEGGING to be debunked itself!

I can't wait!

Anyway, it's nice to see you back here - you were missed! I'll buy the book, and I'll maybe even buy a couple for my friends who are working - Right Now, Directly - withe the effects of global warming. And I shall report back what they say (once they've stopped laughing, of course!)

See, the problem you have is that the vast majority of the scientific community now go with the idea that the climate is changing, faster than at any time in the past, and that human activity is playing a part in that change. I know this is just one of the issues you bravely tackle, but you really are in an increasingly isolated place.

And, as we've discussed before, the scientists who do still cling to the it's-all-OK theory tend to be scientists who are funded by Big Oil, Big Coal, or one of the other major interest groups who need to dispell climate change fears, otherwise their entire businesses face collapse.

(Are you getting funding from anywhere, by the way?)

Also, any danger of getting a signed copy from you?

Welcome back, pal!

A brief review of what I have written on this topic thus far will reveal that I wrote The Chicken Little Agenda, and that I posted two short reviews by prominent people: Prof. Walter Williams and Alan Caruba. A slightly more careful reading of the material on which you are commenting would be helpful.

Now, as to whether you "trust" what I have said, or what Mr. Gore says, is completely irrelevant. What you need to do is research the matter so that you can make up your mind independently. I have no problem with your using the educated opinions of others – even Al Gore's – but you need to be sure of (1) the accuracy of what they say, (2) the likelihood that what they say is or is not tainted by a political agenda, and (3) whether or not what they say passes the "smell" test (i.e., does it ring true AFTER you have done your due diligence?).

People like you inevitably attack the messenger when you cannot successfully attack the message, which you do when you question California Coast University. What you think about my own credentials is unimportant, so long as what I say is accurate – and you can verify every one of my statements with just a bit of effort. Incidentally, I got my PhD through California Coast because they were able to offer me an arrangement that allowed me to accomplish most of my non-research academic activities while I was at the South Pole conducting the research upon which I have based many of my statements, and which Al Gore has also used, except he doesn't understand the underlying inconsistencies, and so ends up misstating the problem.

Let's do this: You concentrate on what I have written; check out the claims, verify the facts, take the time to understand the logic – then re-enter the discussion. Furthermore, since you obviously appear interested, you have nothing to lose (except $18.50) by purchasing the book, reading it, and deciding for yourself if I am credible or not. For my part, I will refrain from calling you just another mindless Liberal who refuses to let the facts influence her opinion.

Regardless...let's keep it civil, OK?

Two quick points:

1) You wrote the book you're reviewing?

2) I trust Al Gore (at least, on this topic, anyway) and the legitimate scientific community far more than I do someone whose credentials are dubious plus from a school I've never even heard of.

We must be ready,
To go away,
We'll find a pot of gold,
Just sitting where the rainbow's ending,
Time - we'll fight against the time,
And we'll fly the white wings of the wind.

Help me out here...

You mention BS in my writing.... Obviously, you're entitled to your opinion – I spent 23 years of my life helping to ensure that you retain this right. What I ask in return is that when you say something, please back up your assertions with facts. In this case, please point out one BS item in what I have posted to date. Or – buy the book and read it, and then tell me where I am spinning anything.

As they say in the California Court System, I make an offer of proof. Everything I have written about, WITHOUT EXCEPTION, I can back up with irrefutable proof. So, please, this is an open forum. I challenge you openly and fairly: show me where is the BS.

Here are direct links to a Précis and a Chapter Summary of the book so you can get a better idea of why this book is important. You can get further information about me personally at my website. Order the book from this link.

The B.S. really comes through in his writing, too.

P.S. California Coast University?

It's what you know for sure that just ain't so.”
