I like learning about all kinds of people... but I think I'd prefer to
travel with those that are most compatible to me.  We don't have to have the same exact interests, but we have to at least work well together.

Azur,

excellent observations. My own choices depend a great deal on the nature of the contact, whether it is casual, more intimate, temporary or of some duration.

Generally I would argue that, since we ultimately know who and what we are only in and through our contact with others, clearly a life-long 'project', we are always in a process of 'becoming'...

They say opposites attract
but nobody likes THEM anyway.  More growth comes from opposition and somebody who challenges your way of thinking, but it's more comforting to surround yourself with yes-men.  Wouldn't you agree?

The last sentence is the strongest thought of all.

One thought that comes to me is that I'd like to be with similar people, but actually meet different people. When you meet the different ones, they inspire you to a greater understanding of the world, bit by tiny bit. And once met, you can toddle off cradling that experience.

For me, I like to meet as much as possible as it feeds into my ideas for writing.

That's what I mean by relaxing with people Johnmcnab
the more the merrier.  we need only be alike in our curiosity and pleasure in meeting others. That' s all it takes

It really depends....
however I have to say that here on Blogit, I've been made to feel an equal to people who are better educated and more accomplished than me, I would have to pay extra for that on vacation.

I don't think so, Azur.  When Ell and I go on holiday, even we are not like each other.  I find other's lives and jobs fascinating and can listen to them for hours.

Well, I'd like to vacation with people like me...less stressful...
but I'd hate to blog with people just like me 'cause it would be soooo boring.  Oops. Now my secret is out. I'm boring. No one will read me anymore.... sniff sniff.... uh-oh, I am in a strange mood tonight. I had better watch it.

I agree...some of my best times have been spent with those who knew
how to relax and take in the sights when on vacation...some of the worst times were spent with those who wanted to do just the opposite of what I did.
