It's reallly weird

bouillabasse is pronounced really similarly to 'bualadh bos' which means applause in Irish.

Weirdo, nerd fact of the day.

bouillabaisse is fish soup from Marseille.
They would throw it back in the sea where it belongs if they knew what you are doing to their fish dish.  Go to the library or on the net, and check the recipe. bon appétit.

Azur, I wish I had the recipe for the boullabaisse (sp?) that I had one
Christmas at a friend's house.  She made it with just a touch of Grand Marnier and cream. It was to die for.  Her mother's recipe.  It's not cheap to make that's for sure.

We set targets when we employ someone don't we?

They have a list of duties that we expect them to fulfill.  If they go about their job with minimum disruption and all is well then that's fine if your satisfied with it.  If they don't, then you question why they're doing a half-assed job, or why they're doing things in a certain manner.

Placing 100% trust in someone is fine if they have set a precedent in deserving same?

What leadership in any country can uphold itself to that?

I think we have to remember that the choices we make in our own precincts have ripples elsewhere. I get dismayed at people who seem willing to wipe out swathes of humanity. Thanks for your comment

Whacky, if people hold politicians to account
and make them consider their choices long and hard that is doing something

The big fish do change. Our pond is different to old ponds. There will
always be new big fish. C'est la vie humaine.

Can you kill for peace or fight for good?

Look to human nature and history for clues.

PS: someone needs to research the word "massacre". Pol Pot and Stalin would be glad to help you with it.

we need a strong independent 3rd party... the other two are totally
obsolete in their thinking, if they think at all...

There is nothing evil about questioning those who decide for us.  It is the way things should be.  The evil comes from the deciders who let the power go to their heads.  Like you, I have lived in a city where caution was required and solitary packages were suspect.  Thank goodness those people were not into suicide bombing.

Humanity is still in the playground where differences are considered weird.  Within a few centuries - if mankind is lucky, we will all be Earth people.  Here in Canada, people still differentiate as in French-Canadians; Germanic-Canadians and they have brought their religions and hatreds with them to this new country.

I have seen this work on both sides of the coin

No matter what side of the political arena some are on they absolutley refuse to see beyond their own party.  While I tend to lean fairly strongly toward the Conservative side, I do not agree with 100% of what anyone puts out there. If we went through the major issues of today one would find me somewhere in the middle.   I have also been attacked for my thoughts and beliefs regarding certain situations.

I am the wife of an OIF Vet, I still have troops over there.  My take on the situation is through the eyes of those who have been there, I won't apologize for that.  As for our political machine, one would be hard pressed to find an honest one in the bunch.

I stay away from certain people because they seem to be looking for nothing more than to pick a fight and it's simply not worth my time.

I agree it is not that simple. the bulldozer approach is not that effective
You get rid of one lot of terrorists and another will take its place. Sometimes, it is better to let them get on with their own disputes and bring humanitarian aids to those worn torn countries, if you want to get rid of evil, you might as well wipe out the entire planet and start again, as no one is blameless. Of course we can't do that, you also have to fight the spiritual war, the principalities and I forgot the exact quote. We are so busy trying to change the world, when we should start with ourselves and reform our petty little ways. Do we spread peace in our own family, in our own workplace and do we spread discord with careless words and gossipy tales? Well we got to start somewhere and there is no place like home. I know it won't solve the world's problems but such simple actions are within reach of everyone. While we are busy debating world's problems, nothing much is happening.I am not against discussions as long as they have a fruitful outcome and are not used as an excuse for pretending to care, and springing into inaction.

Azur, Like you, I envy those who believe that a strong leader

will keep us safe.  I also believe that the world is much more complex than that, and the diplomacy is necessary as much as force.  The use of force needs to be finessed with diplomacy.

Making simple equations between an entire group of people and terrorism, and calling anyone who questioins the policies of our current Administration treason or aiding and abetting terrorism does nothing to make us safer.  It only exacerbatees the threat.

I like the analogy of the killer fish in the pond.  There will always be more aggressive fish, I believe, it's human nature.  But culling the stock, helps to keep nature's balance.  How about some boullabaisse?

I like your analogies to the food chain. When one becomes extinct, another evolves to take its place. Lol.
