If you are a slow learner, what does that make me?
One never stops learning. You can hone your writing skills till you drop, may be you never stop, there must be a place in heaven where you can write beautiful pieces. I will have to consult my angels about that. Short of being too metaphysical here, I shall abscond and blow my nose. Sorry nature calls.

I cannot imagine trying to communicate effectively in another language. I've been a native English speaker for almost 60 years and am only now coming into my stride with regard to nuance and effective communication. Perhaps I am just a very slow learner. Samhain_Moon

Very nice response there MarieClaire
$1m for a cleaner. - haha
English is rarely mastered even by its speakers.
Some of my college students have cluttered writing. They were taught to use big words to earn higher markers but they did not use them well. I suggested to them to strip their writing back to its simplest form and then rebuild.

I know you are right.
It's the word discipline and hard work that put me off.... Some laziness and a defeatist attitude to adress. Nobody can do it for me, but somehow I expect the world to solve my problems... Some people never learn.
How can I tidy up the mess in my head?
I put an add for a cleaner
but nobody came forward...
Surprise surprise
I offered a million dollars
but still no there were no takers.
Decide to take the matter
into my own hands...
Discipline is my broomstick
but it lies in the corner
unused disused and bored
even that needs a good clean.
Perseverance and persistence
are required to shake up
the dust of poor habits
deeply incrusted in the psyche...
How can I turn the cobwebs
into works of art?
Their intricate patterns
are a sight to behold,
but I ask you
why do we find them so unsightly?
I am just a cobweb in the corner
Just don't dust me off yet.

Marieclaire--- Good writing requires hard work and discipline for 99.9
percent of us, including me. If you force yourself to construct and organize and practice good writing habits, quality will improve and become easier and easier. Of course, it you have no inclination in that direction, don't beat yourself up about it. Also, sometimes, as we write, we improve despite ourselves and our bad habits.

at least you did not order brains for dessert!
The French eat all sorts of delicacies, such as brains, horse meat, frog legs, snails... The French know better, they leave those on the menu to trick tourists and watch their face fall off, when they eat the stuff! Thanks for reading my rambling, I need real help with structure though. My brain is a big jumble of great ideas but my! what a jumble it is! Must be that French food I was brought up on....

Marieclaire--- French isn't even my 100th language. During my first meal
in Paris, in attempting to speak French, I ordered fish for dessert. The waitress and those with whom I shared the table were kind enough to help me sort it out.
