I do see where you are coming from.  There seems to be a good deal of anger amongst certain bloggers on the two subjects of religion and politics.

I have my beliefs and I try to live my life accordingly.  I married a man who wasn't sure that there was a "God" and I basically even now refuse to set foot in a church.  We have both found our own way back, while I may be moving faster than Carl...what led us both to where we are today was being around those who set the example versus pushing their faith down our throats.  I think when the subject of any faith comes up, those who are questioning or simply non-believers do feel somewhat defensive because so many times, others have told us that we were going to hell.

I am not criticizing anything you have said, as I have never seen you push anything on anyone but I am trying to give you the point of view of someone who had her own struggles and things that pushed me away rather than draw me back.

Ariel,
your position closely resembles mine, although I have not moved to the point of certainty required by 'atheism'...

Justi,
I wrote a blog tonight partly in response to yours, and I stress the word partly...

Sophistie

I think you know my views on this subject well enough by now, but for the benefit of those who don't let me express a tiny part of them once more.

I am an atheist, but I care passionately about our common, Judaeo-Christian heritage, and altho' I often ciriticise Christians, and will do so again shortly, mine is never an attack upon their beliefs, but rather a defence of them.

My criticisms are invariably directed to the dilution and debasement of Christ's simple message, " Love thy neighbour as thyself" which is, and always has been my guiding principle. It would bve so whoever had first propounded it.

We can all, believer and non-believer alike, discuss our differences in a spirit of amity, and with courtesy and respect.

None of us may know where our journey will end, but we all have a duty to help each other along the way. Some might think that this is precious, pompous, patronising, but who cares? That's what I believe. WEll, a tiny bit of what I believe.

Enjoy your day, and your faith.

( I'm off to bed!!)

I Have Read John Hagee and Listen to Him Frequently

I have found that the more one has to justify, it is often fruitless for the person(s) do not want to hear!  I have argued with people who discredit my credentials and hold only a high school diploma or completed 8th grade.  These people also know about the scriptures than I do and often listen to sermons, yet rarely read the Bible.  I used quite a few references when speaking to these individuals as though I was defending my dissertation until I decided, there was no point and just to go away from them as I read in the scriptures.  Do what you feel you need to do, is all that I can suggest.

I always liked the title of this blog!!

Speaking of non-believers,

I just saw a post by Gomedome where he sarcastically calls 'speaking in tongues' a religious con game.

So I left him a comment quoting Matt 12:31 - that Jesus said all sin can be forgiven except one. Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit can not be forgiven in this life or the one to come.

It pissed him off and he told me not to visit his blogs anymore.

Thanks for the info....

As to your comments.....their attacks and smears prove the relevance of our cause.  We have to prove ourselves to no one........

It is Hagee. He meets regularly with leaders from all over the world. His book Countdown to Armageddon is so great. It has all the Iranian stuff. It has been in the works for about five years. He was writing long before we were hearing about it.

I will use Perry Stone and his friend Cloud. He has great revelation. Kennedy is a great political analysts and does the work on our Country's heritage by the letter of the law. Do you like John Hagi (spell)? He shows chargs and all sorts of thigs. Are you familiar with Bill Briem? Again I am not sure of the spelling. We have all of Perry Stone's works and record from TV daily his studies. You are moving in good company lady.

I like Perry Stone...I've just discovered him recently-
He explains bible prophecy so that anyone can understand it...It makes my hair stand on end to listen to him speak. Kennedy is kind of stuffy for my tastes.
