judge the source

The Cybercast News Service was launched on June 16, 1998 as a news source for individuals, news organizations and broadcasters who put a higher premium on balance than spin and seek news that’s ignored or under-reported as a result of media bias by omission.

Study after study by the Media Research Center, the parent organization of CNSNews.com, clearly demonstrate a liberal bias in many news outlets – bias by commission and bias by omission – that results in a frequent double-standard in editorial decisions on what constitutes "news."

hmmmm

judge the source.

headline on Drudge at the time I posted it....

and it opened to a Canadian newspaper....

Here's another that says it true:

http://www.cnsnews.com/news/viewstory.asp?Page=%5CCulture%5Carchive%5C200605%5CCUL20060519b.html

And from the Prime Minister of Australia:

Prime Minister John Howard has reacted with horror to a new Iranian law forcing Jews and Christians to wear coloured badges.

The Iranian parliament passed a law this week setting a dress code for all Iranians, requiring them to wear almost identical "standard Islamic garments", Canadian newspaper the National Post reports.

The law, which has yet to be formally approved by Iran's "Supreme Guide", Ali Khamenei, before it comes into effect, also establishes special insignia to be worn by non-Muslims - a yellow strip of cloth for Jews, a red badge for Christians and blue cloth for Zoroastrians.

Drudge has pulled it.......for further verification........

From NY.....

Scramble Is On To Confirm Report Iran Wants Jews To Wear Badges

Jewish leaders, the Israeli government and chancelleries of free countries are scrambling to find out whether there is truth to a

report that Iran is readying a law that would require Jews and Christians and members of other minority religions to wear special identifying marks on their clothing.

On Friday, the Jewish Community's representative in Iran's parliament, known as the Majlis, Morris Mohtemed spoke with the secretary general of the Iranian American Jewish Federation in Los Angeles, Sam Kermanian, and told him the story reported by the National Post in Canada today was false. "We have not been able to confirm the accuracy of the report, nonetheless we are pursuing this issue with concern," Mr. Kermanian said in an interview with The New York Sun.

I can't find any good evidence to support this, although it looks as if it made quite the splash in the news today...

This is an alarming post...
and yet it is important that everyone understand that we can no longer close our eyes to what is going on in that region of the world. How do we teach those we cannot reach? Blessings...

Yes, this is pretty horrible...
...no doubt about how oppressive Iran can be regarding religion and especially women.  Let's be careful about not wanting to negotiate with them, because if we don't like what they're doing then we need to make sure and set a better example!   We need to stop using public money to post the Ten Commandments at U.S. courthouses, for example.  I think the Commandments are important, but I don't want MY tax dollars going to that, especially since I know we're not all Christians.  (That's not an attack on Christianity, by the way, but a way to embrace ALL religions.)  And let's stop spending more on "defense" than the next 14 countries in the world combined.*  This only makes everyone else spend more money on war machines, gives them less incentive to negotiate, and takes money away from roads, health care, schools and lowering taxes for everyone.  --Shawn, "Tall and Skinny Poet"
