Now that you mention it, I have heard that distinction made between Marx and Marxism in the past.  Aside from my own impressions and views formed over the past 30 years, I've really only nicked around the edges of actual research on PC.  The more I think about this topic, though, the more I'm inclined to dig a little deeper.  It strikes me as too important not to.

Lensman,
thanks for your detailed response. It definitely merits further discussion.  For now let me only say that I think we need to make a distinction between Marx, who slaved away in the British Museum, was thoroughly steeped in European culture and would be horrified at many of the things that have been and are being done in his name, and what has been called 'vulgar Marxism'. As someone (I forget who) once said: Marx was not a Marxist. And the high respect for their culture is evident also in the writings of the European New Left, Adorno, for example, and even Marcuse. In fact, their writings are grounded in that culture. Whereas PC represents, among other things, a loss of culture.

Nautikos

Well, thank you for those kind remarks

Delighted to find this excellent piece.  I'm always happy to see the PC rock turned to expose the recoiling grubs beneath.  "Sniveling, sanctimonious smugness" sums it all up so nicely.  I couldn't agree more.  If everybody were to understand PC's Marxist origins, more might be less inclined to practice it.  Its whole intent was to cut the legs from under the western world.  As unsavoury as it is, I believe its creation was nonetheless an act of genius.  It has succeeded probably beyond its creators greatest ambitions.  It is self-perpetuating.  Those who have been born into a PC world have no idea.  For them, it's simply a way of life and they are helping to nurture it.

As I've said before, PC's sinister side is that it carries within it the seeds of our own destruction.  It goes way beyond a harassment-free workplace.  Take racial profiling, for instance.  God forbid we should racially profile Arabs.  Wouldn't want to offend anyone.  Never mind that Arabs are responsible for the majority of terrorism today and terrorists are intent on destroying our western world and any of us who get in their way.  PC is making it easy for them.  I view PC as a Trojan Horse.

Truth be told, the majority of Arabs who have emigrated to North America for legitimate reasons would have little reason to be offended by racial profiling.  Many of them have come here to escape the oppression of their homelands.  Would Muslim women in North America wish to see the rise of the Taliban here?  Not bloody likely.  In fact, here in Vancouver, it was Muslim women who helped defeat attempts to establish Muslim Sharia law here.  With racial profiling (simple common sense, in my opinion) in place, they, in fact, would stand to benefit rather than lose.

I notice it is seldom the supposed "victims" who complain; rather it is our homegrown, brainwashed PC'ers who sing the loudest and place us in the most danger.  PC is mind control.  Fear of a pointed finger is what helps it thrive, yet all we need to do is flip the bird at the pointed finger and it becomes impotent.  That's what we're doing by writing these posts and making these comments.  When you think about it, can it stop us if we're not afraid of it or its practitioners?

As for PC's supposed benevolent intent, the vast majority of us are capable of conducting ourselves appropriately without its Big Brother-style guidance.

Great post, well thought out, well researched and well written.  I look forward to what follows, Naut.

Thanks for dropping in, Rumored,
I guess we're beginning to establish a Canadian corner in this forum - Lensman, Wiley, you and I, and maybe we'll get a few more together and tilt this whole thing a bit more in a northerly direction...

Thanks Corbin,
very perceptive comments! It's just the sort of response I was hoping for! I think I will deal with it in my next post, and since this is a long weekend for us, that may appear soon.

To me, the guilt you talk of is the result of the feeling of being envied.

Bear with me as I try and explain..........

We became the richest, most advanced country in the world......this created the envy of our accomplishments......

What gives envy its enormous destructive capacity is the fear of it.........It is envy that makes a Nazi, a Communist, or a Moslem Terrorist. It is the fear of being envied that makes a Liberal.

Look at examples of successful businessmen who have made it on their own......normally they have a respect for the effort and the economic system that makes success possible. Their children, however, with their unearned inheritance, are easier targets for guilt-mongering by the envious.

So they assume a posture of liberal compassion as deviceto deflect the envy: "Please don't envy me for my father's money -- look at all the liberal causes and government social programs I advocate!" Teddy Kennedy is the prime example of this......

Envy-appeasement explains why Hollywood is so liberal......The vast amounts of money stars make is so disproportionate to the effort it took them to make it that they feel it is unearned. So they apologize for it. The Liberal strategy is to apologize for his success, his country’s success, his civilization’s success, in order to appease the envious.

So to me, Liberalism is not a political ideology or set of beliefs.....as much as it is an envy-deflection device, a psychological strategy to avoid being envied.

Unfortunately, the immigration crisis brings a terrible truth into focus.  Fear of envy is no longer confined to Liberals. .....it is now  infecting vast numbers of otherwise normal Americansthrough the "Political Correctness"you mention.  Obviously, it has infected the President of the United States.

Oh my goodness Sly PC is the legitimate child of liberalism.

Sly,
PC is a condition that is not only affecting the way people speak, but also the way people act. If you're one of the few liberals who don't like what PC has done to our language, good for you! The fact remains that the PC monster is a creature of Western liberalism, and is being fed and maintained by it.

I see absolutely no connection between PC and
any kind of liberalism.   Nobody likes PC why stick that around the neck of liberals.  Liberals only want what is best for most people.  PC bastardizes the language and nobdy benefits from that.

Justi,
hell, I tried to say what was on my mind, which may not have been much, ! Did you see anything I missed?

Naut next time try saying what is on your mind. LOL This is great.

I have no proof but I am gut sure a study would bear me out that resentment is based on repressed anger and fear. Much of what we see dressed in the veils and lace of PC are not so unlike open anger and fear just garnished in a gentler sauce.

I look forward to the future posts this was very interesting.
