Oddly, I think Mother Nature agrees with you-
Each year, Nebraska gets quite a few tornadoes. I'll check the stats for last year and get back to you.

Hi, Spitfire70,
I've heard other similar descriptions of Nebraska.  Never been there, though, and not in any hurry to visit.  I know no one in that part of the country.  Thanks.  :)

TAPS,
Weird, but I think you and I just posted a comment on eachother's post at the same exact time! Anyway, if I was one of those pioneers traveling that way, I'm sure I commited suicide. I was "texting" with my brother along the trip and told him that all the dead Nebraska windshield bugs HAD to be suicides.

You don't know how lucky you are to have been driving a motorized vehicle.   The pioneers did it in prairie schooners pulled by wagons.   Can you imagine how long that would take?   LOL    In all of my 68 years of  living on the edge of Nebraska (MO), I have managed to travel in every state west of the Mississippi except for that one.   I have been in a big circle around it several time (on purpose).

I actually feel kinda bad about Nebraska bashing, but hell, I'm really not exaggerating!

Lens, YES! It was like that for me, too!
Funny how excited one can get just by possibly approaching civilization, huh?

Hold it now! I was born in Omaha. Just kidding. We left when I was three. My mom says it was the worst place we ever lived: Hotter than forty hells in the summer with no trees, and blizzards in the winter.

Wading across the wide...
O thou monstrous badge of beige bilge
where are the whirleybirds
when a most desperate Lady flags
for a ride, please, mister....
get me two hells outa here...
sun comes up, sun goes down
another half of quarter mile
there had better be some spot of a damn town
at the very damn least,
a working beverage dispenser!

Why do you think so many serial killers hail from the midwest, Young Miss?

Hi Spitfire
Reminds me of driving through the prairies up here.  Once when I was driving through Manitoba at night (seemed like forever) I began to see the glow of city lights on the horizon (Winnipeg) and I thought, "Hallelujah, I'm almost there."   Fact is, it took about another hour and a half.  That's how flat it was.
