Nautikos thank you for your comment. I too think about a lot of things
that are plain but not safe. Be blessed my friend. I may return but not for a while I need to rest.

Justso,

both your country and mine are facing huge difficulties. This not the place to get into details, but let me just point out what I think the 'bottom line' will be: for the first time since the Great Depression, we are faced with the prospect that the overall living standards of the United States, Canada and other major Western economies will begin a period of decline.

Aside from that, I just want to say that I will miss your posts, and hope that you will reconsider leaving, if not now, than in future. And whatever you do, I wish you the very best.

And let me know what you think of my latest post.

KATRAY thank you so much. I would love to have a cup of coffee with you
sit and both of us talk about this. I would enjoy the company too. I see your points totally. I do know the middle class is shrinking so fast. What you are talking about is a bad situation it is not the answer to the problem of profits, waste and loss of middle class worker. I am certainly not blaming the worker! I am blaming the non-worker! I was a business owner for 35 years. I, needless to say, had a very small business. There were times I had 35 employees. In all that time I did not have any insurance. I had to pay my part and the employee part of FICA.. I paid half theirs as well. I never missed a pay day for them. I have had large contracts come in before my receivables came in and it would be hungry time at my house. We are that middle class back bone not the GM and etc., If you have 1,000,000 of us giving 35 people a job then you have 35 million working. Most of us are gone, the large companies who used our products or sold to us whatever, are in China, India on and on. We did not make a fortune on the backs of the poor. They are selling products for less than we can buy raw goods. It takes sharp executives often making much more than the business owner to keep things on the right track in a fast motion. They are not the individual profit maker, but they are the people who often see that failure that will blind side you coming long before you do. That is the business management you were talking about. You have to pay for that. They paid well for the training. It takes a lot of money today to get an MBA.... Unless you have a service operation in the USA today it is not likely going to last because you can't afford to pay to have the products made. I know that first hand.

Thank you for your considered reply Justsouno

Actually, in my neck of the woods, small businesses also have layers of overpaid management. And they underpay their laborers. I don't see how the number of workers on the payroll pertains to the argument of wage inequality. Surely those million hourly producers wouldn't have been hired if people at the top didn't believe they would add to their profits? Okay, I'll look at that angle - those million workers generate 10 percent (in a slow week) over their costs. That is 200 million dollars profit. In a single week. Now the twelve executives - if they generate the same 10 percent over their costs, their combined contribution is 27, 840.

I'm not saying all executives are worthless, but there is a glut of overpaid management at too many companies. Who are usually much better compensated when things get rough than their blue collar co-workers. Bad management styles are a companies downfall. To blame the worker, who after all, has very limited to none decision making power is looking in the wrong mirror, imho. I am very concerned about the fate of the middle class in this country. They are the bread & butter/backbone of a nation and are under heavy pressure.

Katray I see the merit in your words, totally. That is not nearly all the

story. It is the small business that has kept the work force going in this country. There are no CEOs making such outrageous salaries there. I agree with you there are those who have done these things and they must be stopped. Many have and are being now. If you do the math in an articulate manner you will see that the numbers do not add up any better for the workers. It is not that money is the root of all evil but the love of money is the root of all evil and that is the quote that is taken from in the Bible. Example of numbers: In a very large company say a GM you have a CEO of course you have other executives but there are a dozen or less who really get the mega bucks as compared to a 12X580 ($580 being the number you gave)or $6,860. per hour that is a weekly total of $274,400 (TWO HUNDRED SEVENTY FOUR THOUSAND) of course all this is guess work based on totals rounded off. Even if you double or triple it you don't have a lot. Compare the 1,000,000 workers @$30 which with taxes, those it takes to care for the paper work of each and their benefits they will run at least $50. We immediately have $2,000,000,000 (TWO BILLION FOR ONE WEEK'S WORK) for the same number of products going out of the plants, on a weekly basis. If enough workers stay out of work on one of their many benefit days the production can drop to hurting levels. Compared to $274,400 in a weekly picture of workers it is a major difference. Also what is called on from them is incredible. Anytime there is a contrast of $275,000 per week to $2,000,000,000 That is Billion no Million and we are still under a million in executive salaries on a weekly basis. It goes down to loss of jobs, all cars and insurance because we all want the top jobs.

At GM right now the executives (Not the CEO OR CFO etc.) levels are being laid off work. They will be paid unemployment for 26 weeks, some severance options not much stock holders are breathing down the necks of the company right now. These people will look and look for work. The employees on the other hand will be given a buy-out option that with some little side job will hold them as retirement for life particularly if they are past 40 and have been prudent in their investing and saving.

There are two sides to every issue. Our country is failing to see mirrored sides to all issues and that is our real problem at this time.

I truly believe money is the root of all evil Justsouno...
and that greed is as an infectious disease. However there is a "sliding scale" effect to this...I've worked for and/or known of companies where management desired to keep their executive's bonuses and perks hidden from the lower level workers. And perks included much, much more than insurance, pension and paid vacation. Cases of "there is enough profit for us to live like royalty but not enough to share with the people who also contribute to our success." Awhile back there was an article in Reader's Digest about CEO pay. I don't remember everything in it, but what stood out was the reporting on average CEO salary in the U.S. - 573.00 per hour I believe, when broken down. So I ask: How is the worker's demand for living wages; (and working people I'm familiar with don't expect to drive fancy cars, buy million dollar homes or trapeze off to Europe or private islands; they only want the needs of themselves and families met and a few creature comforts such as a second car, home improvements, a modest vacation here and there if possible) - how is this more damaging than the demands of the upper tier in a company?

Corbin that is deception in its truest sense. I have it, we all have it
to some degree in some way but it is overpoweringly detrimental to our country from the Liberals at this point. I will be working this next election. Stay in touch.

Justso...

How true the words you speak......

Me, Me, Me......is the rule today and the results are ignored.  Nothing is every caused by our own actions and demands.....it's always the other guy doing it to me......the Era of victim-ism is upon us!

Justsouno

Nothing wrong with your soapbox for the Lord. However, if it is taking a toll on your own good self, then you must do what you have to. I shall truly miss you, and maybe we could keep in touch via e-mail.

I don't know myself how long I will  even keep on with this blogging, I am slowly tiring of it and with you gone, well, it doesn't have the same attraction.

God bless you both, you and George.

Dear Anthony1Wiley, I think you are right. It is time for some of us
who believe that to say say so. It is difficult to speak out sometimes but some of us have that calling that puts us in conflicting places. I am learning not to be so forceful in my words I think. George is much better than I am. Of course I tell him it is because he is in church music ministry. He plays a tune about troubles and I get on my soap box for the Lord. Keep praying for me, I need to be gentler. Be blessed my dear friend. I will truly miss you.
